    Making moves.

Combining everything you love about an active midlayer, the Mountain Equpiment Men's Transition Jacket helps you traverse from slopes to backcountry in one breathable layer. Constructed with lightweight, stretch nylon, you'll have all the mobility you need to ski pole down chopped up powder or skin up a steep slope. Synthetic insulation is body mapped so you don't overheat while you're carving turns, and the underarm panels provide extra means for you to wick away body heat.

    • A hybrid insulating jacket for active winter sports
    • Polarloft is body mapped for efficient temperature regulation
    • Underarm panels provide breathable mobility
    • Pre-shaped and articulated sleeves offer good range of motion
    • Elastic hood, hem, and cuffs keep out the winter chill
    • Packs down into hand pocket with carabiner carry loops

Best Heavy Midlayer that I've used

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: large
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 190lbs

So... I've used another piece that is similar from a brand that everyone and their brother are wearing now.... What I like about this piece is that it seems to have a broader temperature range than most. I think it's because of a looser knit outer shell that lets the moisture out. Under the arms, there is a loose stretch fabric, but the whole jacket uses a breathable fabric. I would describe this as a purpose-built heavy midlayer. It may not have the techy-looking fabric, but it also doesn't feel as sweaty. Keeps me warm on the lift and stays dry when I'm skiing down. Also moves well under a shell.
