Offset Waist and Short Leg Loop Drop

I returned this product before using it

This review is specifically for the XS Silhouette harness, which for the record, weighed in at 15.1 ounces. I am 5'4" tall, weigh 110 pounds, and have a 26" waist. The XS specs state that this harness fits a 24-26" waist and 19-22" thighs. I think it would be more accurate to say it fits a 24-25" waist and 17-22" thighs. When I adjusted the waistband to 26", the right half of the waistband shifted to the right, carrying the underlying padding beneath it. This created a 3" offset gap in the front without padding, with the center of the belay loop shifted 2" to the left. When I centered the belay loop to my navel, the previously centered rear leg loop hanger shifted 2" to the left and my right gear loops shifted further back on my right side. This felt very awkward and will cause a weight imbalance with my gear. As was mentioned by a previous reviewer, the rear drop on the leg loops is excessively short. The XS rear waistband is 4" high, and the elastic band extending from the bottom of the waistband to the top of the leg loops is 12" max. This resulted in the leg loops barely reaching my uppermost thigh at the longest setting, and I have a very small backside. The harness seems well made, with hefty gear loops protruding 2-3/4" from the belt for what it is worth. I was disappointed to see chalk on the waist band, as I would expect customers to respect gear that they are trying on, and certainly hope they aren't trying safety gear out to see how they like it and returning it as if it were unused. In any event, I won't be exchanging this for a small, which may fit my waist better, since the the short leg loop drop is unacceptable.

Just TOO bulky

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

It's a great harness, but not for me. I wish companies would advertise the width of the leg loops and the drop from the waist to the top of the leg loops in the back. I'm a 50-year-old, 145 lb, 5'5" climber with a solid build (read as: girl's got junk in the trunk). The bands from the harness made the legs loops ride too high, even on their loosest setting. There was also a little too much bulk in the leg straps between my legs, so I feel like I was constantly pulling the legs out of my crotch. It was comfy for leading a 5.10 and for belaying, but I agree with the reviews that it isn't great for standing around. I know I had the correct size because the loops and waist were the correct fit. If the legs had hung lower, I may have kept it, but for the price, I'd rather have something else.

Best Harness I have used

I've put it through the wringer

This is hands down the best all around harness I have worn. Comfortable, durable, and plenty of room for a real trad rack. I am sold on Misty harnesses.

So comfortable

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I upgraded to the Misty Mountain Silhouette from a more entry level lower cost harness. This harness is amazingly comfortable to hang in and a HUGE improvement in comfort from my previous harness. It is sleeker and lighter than the Cadillac, which is a plus as well. Pretty sure this harness will be an excellent all-arounder for both sport and trad climbing. The upturned gear loops seemed weird at first but it makes sense that they sit right next to your body when they are not holding gear. My only quibble is that the webbing straps used to tighten the waist and leg belts are too long, and I don't want to shorten them because I don't have sewing skills. Also I think the webbing on the belay loop should be tripled instead of double layer, so chances are I will get an extra belay loop added later (or replace the existing one once it's worn).
