Why We Like The Merrell Nova 3 Mid GTX Hiking Boot
Merrell's best-selling trail running shoe for men now comes in an over-the-ankle hiker version, the Nova 3 Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot. More of a hybrid sneaker-hiker than a traditional hiking boot, the Nova has a light-duty build for fast hikes, urban hikes, and everyday wear. There's a waterproof bootie for protection if things get soggy or snowy and a Vibram rubber outsole to make sure we don't slip on the trail or the urban jungle as we're out hiking, walking the dog, or wandering out and about. It's a lightweight alternative for those who prefer a more sneaker-like look and feel to a sturdy hiking and backpacking boot.

Perfect light weight hiker/ Disc Golf
Great lightweight, use it for disc golfing. Works well on paved or artificial turf tee pads.

Great Sierra shoes
Nice and light. No break-in time. A little light for heavily rocky trails but overall excellent! 4.5/5. Hiked 30 miles in 5 days in the high Sierra Nevada ~ 10,000’ with brand new boots.

Great Support!
I love these shoes. After previously having the Rainbow Nova’s for a number of years, I wanted something with a little more support. And I got it! These are great in any condition, every setting, and my feet are completely dry and don’t stink. I wear them camping, hiking, around the city, and also around the house. Overall a great shoe. Only recommendation I would have is make this a full boot!

Good bang for your buck
Not a bad shoe so far. Havent done anything too technical or in bad weather yet but so far it’s been comfortable for that 5-10mile range.

Good lightweight boot
Great lightweight hiking boots. Comfort of an athletic shoe with ruggedness of a boot. Had in rain sleet and snow and stayed dry.

Light boot, but poor durability.
I use these everyday out in the western slope of Colorado, so the terrain can be rugged but are generally fairly tame. These just do not hold up with the grip on the bottom. I have the trail runners as well, and those show even more signs of wear with much less use, as I hike much more. These boots are extremely light which is great, but after two pairs I will not buy again. Merrell's lighter weight boots just do not seem to hold up well.

Perfect Shoe to Trek Up Mount Kilimanjaro!
I bought these to trek up Mount Kilimanjaro. They ere perfect, light weight, water proof, durable and fit like a slipper. I wear them now to walk daily four miles. I just bought another pair I like them so much!

The best shoe I’ve ever had
These are my second pair as I wore out the first in 2023. Quite simply they are the best fitting and most supportive shoes I have ever owned. I buy 1 size larger than my foot to allow for swelling on hot days and to for some breathing on hikes. These are well made and waterproof (for minor drizzles or puddles). While I own a low cut walking shoe by Merrell and another of their over-the-ankle models they are stiffer and less comfortable than the Nova 3 Mid. A great 3 season shoe that checks a lot of boxes for me. These are much better for walking, light hiking and general around town shoes than any other of the major show companies I have owned, period.

Love These Shoes
FIrst time used right out of the box I ran 10 miles on trail. Super comfortable, great traction on rocks. One of the best trail running shoes/hikers I've ever owned and I think going forward these will be in my rotation permanently.
