Only buy in-store after trying them on!
Quality control issues. Sizing is WAY off and inconsistent (I've only ever been an 8.5 in any brand and the closest fit for me in this shoe is 9.5). I tried one on in a store and the shoe was made in a different country than the one Merrell sold online. I bought the size from the store online a second time (9.5) and it didn't fit at all. Still too small. Very disappointing. Took me a month and I still don't have a pair of shoes to wear.

Shoes are nice but a little stiffer that I’d like. Used only to walk my huge dog on snowy days, normal shoes are running shoes.

Best hiking shoe!
I took these everywhere and they were fantastic! Broken in out of the box, comfortable but hold up on the rough trails.

Great boots, out of the box comfortable

Are the designs changed? Ouch arch pain
I have had the Erie Waterproof Suede Hiking Boots for 2 years and hiked in them on various terrains for even 4-5 hour hikes on a twice monthly basis. They were amazing, super comfortable and durable. I couldn't stop recommending Merrell. Then I bought these Moab 3 Mid on Canadian Black Friday sale and finally used them for two easy and short hikes in January. They were both easy hikes that lasted only 1-2 hours long. The arch of my left foot started hurting so bad after the first hike and my left knee and back ached after second hike. Really sad about this experience. Now I'll have to try some insoles or give them away.

Color = boring, performance = worth it!
I debated between these and the Speed Solo for a while. I decided to go with the Moab because, although the color options are not as cute, these feel much more rugged. I do like the color of the teal accents, even if the body of the boot is pretty ho-hum grey. I wore a pair of size 9 Merrells for 8 years (!!!) without realizing they run a half size too small. I sized up to 9.5 for this pair and they fit like a dream! SO much more comfortable! And no break-in period needed. Just wore these for a 5-mile slog on a very muddy trail with stream crossings, and no wet feet!

Live my new boots
Comfortable on mutiple small (less than 3 miles) test hikes. Solid and easy to put on.
