Moab is only a small portion of Utah's red rock wilderness, which is similar to the way the Merrell Moab 2 Mid Vent Hiking Boot makes up a small portion of our backpacking rig. Without the boot's sturdy support and ample airflow, we probably wouldn't be able to tackle all those miles with such a heavy backpack. It also takes grit and incredible strategic planning to find water when you need it. This is the desert, after all.

Cool boots
Bought them to wear at work, no toe protection required. I also wear them while I ride my Harley, the ventilation on the sides is excellent to keep my feet cooler and breathing thru the day. As I ride the air flows thru the ventilation even on hot days keeps my feet cool and protected

15 years and still my favorite
True to size. These are my go to shoes for training and operations. Breathable and allow me to be on my feet all day. Would recommend for hot environment.

Moab 2 Mid Ventilators are my favorite for hiking
I have had several pairs of these over the years, that's for a good reason. I have never had an issue with performance or discomfort; they feel as though they are broken in right out of the box. Typically, I hike rocky trails with granite boulders and find they provide dependable traction. The excellent traction seems to come at the cost of reduced tread life, but I think it's a good trade, particularly when I am backpacking. I like the lace design although it took me a while to figure out how to use it to its full advantage (no rocket scientist here). I can't think of anything I would want to change about their design.

Great Boot
One of the most comfortable boots you can find. I've bought multiple pairs and can't find one better.

Mostly great..But..
I've had these Merrells for many years. I've used them for local rough hikes, long and short hikes of every kind. They've come with me on canoe trips in Maine and up in northern Saskatchewan and just walking around. Very comfortable. Grip all surfaces well. Light weight. But...I must add that they all have had a problem with the sole coming slightly detached from the uppers and causing them to leak moisture into the boot. Not good.

Great boots, great quality, ventilation okay
I love these boot I use for work, but wearing them for a few hours still results in sweaty feet. I would purchase them again but make sure you wear good socks for moisture wicking

Great shoe, makes my feet feel great...
Great shoe! All the Moab line fit well, and make my feet feel great. Best hiking shoes ever, IMO. The one negative is that these shoes do not do well on boats or slippery, wet surfaces. Almost got stuck in a crevice near a waterfall, and had to go barefoot to get out because the Vibram sole couldn't get any traction...
