Why We Like The Chameleon 8 Stretch Hiking Shoe
The best part about hiking is venturing off the beaten path into the unknown, which demands gear we can count on to safely guide us there and back. Merrell’s Chameleon 8 Stretch Hiking Shoe implements rubber toe and heel caps to provide us with protection against rock deflections and prevent abrasions, keeping us feeling confident when exploring new terrain. Not to mention, the aggressively lugged Vibram outsole helps us stay upright and comfortable when the once-dusty trail turns wet and sloppy thanks to unexpected rainstorms.

Great shoes!
I have been wearing Cameleon Shoes for over 15 years. I buy a new pair every 2 years or so and throw them out after 4-5 years (I keep 2 pair at a time). They are the best casual shoes ever! I wear them daily. The support is great and the last a long time. I walk at least 10K steps a day, and they last through that much use. Don't ever stop making them.

Perfect shoe
These shoes are awesome. I wanted something similar to Solomon’s but a little more rugged. These are them. The color is great, easy to get on and comfortable. They were a little loose while hiking a steep mountain but for a slip on very understandable

Poor construction
Lasted 4 days before the toe caps started peeling and the heel counters peeled off as well, worst shoe ve bought in a long time

North Slope worthy!!
This is my 5th pair of these. My job takes me to the north slope of Alaska. Even though our summer is short, we get a bunch rain. These hold up when other shoes do not. My feet don't get that sweaty from wearing them but they do stay toasty in the cold. I think Merrell should give me free pairs of these shoes. Highly recommend for hiking and walking outdoors.

Solid shoe
This is my 3rd or 4th pair of chameleons over the years. I swap between these and Moab’s. Have always held up well and are comfortable.

Comfy
4+ year update: I wondered how shoes secured by elastic laces would wear and last. I’m happy to report very well. And quick to slip on and off. They are by far my most comfortable shoes. If I’m alive when they’re finished, I plan to travel the rest of the way with the same.

Love moccasin feel
Overall comfortable shoe and I love the moccasin feel. Not as my CV support that I prefer for hiking in the sole. My soft feet can use it!

Great Addition to the Merrell Lineup
Haven’t had them long so I can’t speak to durability overtime. That said, they were very comfortable out of the box, fit like a glove, and provide very good support on both grass and concrete. They are also much lighter than the MOABs (of which I’ve had more than four pairs over the years), and have improved Vibram treads that are more aggressive than in the past. Lastly, they look super cool and futuristic—like they go with a SpaceX spacesuit (I have the all black ones).

My forever shoe
Forever shoe? I have been buying Merrell Chameleon shoes since 2006. They feel great right out of the box and hold up well as an everyday shoe in town and on the trail. I’ve tried other brands here and there and keep coming back. Thanks Merrell, keep it up!
