Why We Like The Marmot ROM Jacket

When our fall hike turns into a scramble, and the scramble turns into a climb, we're glad to have the Marmot ROM Jacket on our backs. The breathable soft shell moves with us and helps to regulate heat via side vents, all while keeping icy gusts of wind from ruining our day in the mountains. Four total pockets provide plenty of space to stash our phone, a snack, and the hastily jotted-down way-finding notes we left ourselves while we still had service.

Not for me. I am not a fan of stretch fabrics in j

I was excited to order this rain jacket. Once received I was not a fan of the fabric. I am sure it's waterproof but I prefer more of a nylon rather than recycled polyester and gore tex. Also the arms are very long I am a 33" arm inseam and the XL was about 36.

Own 4 ROMs... by far best yet

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love that this is more of a Hybrid hardshell/softshell.. very nice, slightly fitted shell. I won't be afraid to wear it in the rain.

Great multi sport jacket

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this jacket in my normal size and it works great - it's oversized so as to fit over insulating layers without impeding movement. I use it for ice climbing and skiing (alpine, backcountry and cross country) and it works like a dream. Tough enough to shrug off sharp tools but offers great freedom of movement for active endeavors.

Great ski touring shell

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I picked up this jacket for search and rescue work. I used it last night for long ski tour. It’s a great shell. It was in the teens with strong winds and I didn’t have to add or subtract layers for the up or the down while others were having to change layers often. I’m glad it doesn’t have any insulation to not get too hot on the uptrack. The protection is great when stopped or going down. The length felt long at first but it offers great coverage on the mountain. The hood feels like a proper ski jacket hood and offers good protection from wind and winter weather. I plan to pair it with a lightweight hard shell that can stay stashed or left behind to be used when the weather is brutal and wet. Otherwise this jacket will be my go to shell.

No longer what it was

This was my favorite jacket for 10 years, I've had 4. The new one is thinner, lighter, wrong sizing, and lower quality. Returned with deep disappointment in Marmot.

Versatile softshell for almost any adventure

I've struggled to find a softshell that was adequately lightweight, breathable and weather proof. After years of trying different pieces, the search is over. In fact, my current one is the second one I've owned. The reinforced shoulders and sleeves perovide added durability and weather proofness needed while the light weight material allows for excellent breathability for long duration, endurance activities regardless of what the weather throws at you. Did I mention its great for cheering on your favorite team on the sideline too? The clean lines make it an obvious choice for more civilized activities as well!
