Why We Like The PreCip Eco Jacket

For quick-stowing waterproof protection that doesn't bog us down on the trail, we reach for the highly breathable performance of the Marmot PreCip Eco Jacket. We throw on this comfortable shell when heading out on the trail in wet weather. Its microporous NanoPro membrane with microscopic, densely-packed pores and a DWR finish keeps raindrops out while letting perspiration through. The DriClime mesh chin guard prevents moisture buildup from your warm, moist breath and dripping sweat—moving it quickly away from your skin and drying quickly. Fully sealed seams ensure rain doesn't sneak through the cracks, and we can batten down against the elements by pulling in the hood, hem, and cuffs. When we start getting steamy huffing up a hill, we can unzip the underarm vents to let cool air in and pent-up heat escape.

I've used it several times

Can't complain because when I bought it the price was 50%..but to evaluate the quality and size of the MARMOT brand, it's not as good...as the Marmot raincoat I bought 4 years ago...

Perfect Packable Layer!

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Size Bought:
XS

I needed a new lightweight rain jacket, and was looking for something that 1. had pit zips, and 2. would pack down for an easy camping/travel option. I have always loved my heavier Marmot ski jacket, and this rain jacket 100% fits the need! So much attention to detail! Ordered the XS - it's loose enough to throw a few layers underneath if needed.

not waterproof, lining sheds

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I've had this jacket for three years and have probably worn it less than 50 times. The first couple of times I wore it as a windbreaker and it was perfectly fine; the first time I wore it in the rain I got soaked through but by then it was too late to return. Since then it has kept me dry in a drizzle but harder rain tends to go through the jacket. The lining also started shedding about a year ago, just little bits of white material at first but now when I take the jacket off I'm covered in flakes. Really disappointed in the quality and will be staying away from Marmot products in the future!

Almost Perfect

I have owned two Precip Eco jackets previously. They are light weight, come in nice colors, and worked well for travel. The first year or two they work great to keep me dry, but the water repellency wears off after that time. After a rainstorm, I noticed my arms were wet underneath the jacket. I read that washing with conventional detergent damages water repellency. I have tried treating them with Nik Wax, but it may have been too late. In each case, I just purchased a new one. Returning this because it runs small through the middle and the hips. I need a size L.

Keeps me super dry, is packable and light, it is a must have for a summer hike, but also works as a great dry layer over a sweater. I am a big fan.

I tested out my Marmot rain jacket in the Monongahela mountains during a 3 day backpacking trip. It rained on us 80% of the time BUT this jacket kept me relatively dry!

Great Budget Raincoat

Packable, breathable, and true to size. I would order a size up if you want to wear this on the outside of warmer layers underneath. The side vents help keep you cool in between rain storms. Pockets are small and mesh, but help to keep the jacket lightweight. Highly recommend as a budget raincoat.

Perfect for those rainy days

After reviewing dozens of different raincoats, including loots of reviews, I picked this one and so far not a single regret. I was searching for an option that I could wear to work, during hiking, and carry with me while travelling. So far I've been wearing it in the city only and I get only the compliments for my Golden Yellow raincoat. It's been raining almost every day and it copes really well both with drizzles and more intensive rains. I love the fact how you can regulate and insulate your wrists, adjust it at the bottom and the same with the hood. I've stopped carrying an umbrella since I feel truly comfortable wearing this jacket. Re the size, it's perfect -I've tried to wear both over a light shirt and over TNF Apex coat and it feels good. Totally recommended.

My first real hard shell!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this specifically because it was the only affordable hard shell in white. I love the color. It’s almost seems reflective. I’m 5’ and 110 and the small fits perfectly even with a hoodie underneath. Can’t speak for the durability, but it fits my needs for now. Great looking jacket. Very lightweight.
