It's every season you want it to be.
Different seasons call for different jacket requirements, but you can be prepared for any and every weather condition with the waterproof shell and insulated liner of the Marmon Featherless Component Jacket. Having a down jacket on when the weather is cold is the best it gets, but the second it starts raining, that puffy quickly turns into a sloppy mess. With the liner of the Featherless Component Jacket, you can enjoy all the perks of wearing down without enduring the misery of a saturated, compromised piece. The folks at Marmot were able to achieve this by stuffing the liner with their Thinsulate, which creates the same warmth as regular down, but retains double the loft when wet.
If you don't need the extra warmth, the Thinsulate Featherless Insulation is removable, so you can take advantage of the Component Jacket's MemBrain waterproof and breathable fabric on temperate spring, summer, and fall days. This 4-season versatility, coupled with multiple zippered pockets for storage and the ability move freely via the jacket's Angel Wing Movement, renders it the perfect choice for pillaging pow, beating the monsoon, or navigating the trail.

I just picked this up yesterday at REI...today it is unavailable on REI.com so I think it might have been an error. The inner jacket alone is worth the purchase price, and the shell is fantastic, too. Two-way adjustable hood does NOT have a visor but I could make it fit really snugly. Velcro tabs at wrist, and inner snap to keep the two jacket sleeves together. Zipper is sealed and inside zipper has a pocket by your face so no cold metal. I am very impressed with the system. The medium fit me but I went with large for layering. 5' 8", 140lb.
Beautiful ski Jacket

I purchased this for my wife. She has not gotten to use it yet because it was to small. I bought her a new jacket last year that was a large so purchased this in a large. It is definitely cut more athletically than her last jacket. I had to go from a Large to an XL. to get her chest in it. The jacket appears to be the high quality you would expect from Marmot. I will follow up once the jacket gets off back order and she gets the larger size.
