    After 225 miles

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've worn these boots for about 225 miles over the winter thus far, mostly on snow but some trail approaches.

I have wider feet and found them very comfortable. I normally get a size 9-9.5 in shoes, 9.5 in boots and purchased a 10 in these so I can wear them with thicker mountaineering socks. When I tried thinner socks my foot hit the heel cup in the boot in an odd and uncomfortable place, thick socks are the thing. I did put in a different insole, the insole seemed substandard but that's typical.

Boots feel fine on trail, kick steps in snow well and have good traction. I can be ankle deep in a stream and keep my feet dry.

When it's very cold my feet do get a little chilly, but I am snowshoeing/winter mountaineering so that's not unexpected. I tend towards cold feet anyway.

    Overall very happy!
