Kento High GTX Backpacking Boot
Whether you're hiking diverse mountain terrain, traversing via ferrata routes, or tackling moderate mountain tours, the Mammut Kento High GTX Backpacking Boot will keep your feet comfortable and protected through the miles. Thanks to the lightweight Michelin Alpine Lite 3970 sole, the Kento feels at home through these varying terrain types. This sole has been specifically developed for alpine activities and provides you with confident grip on rock, ice, and snow.
In addition to the sole, the Kento is equipped with many other features to keep you comfortable and protected on your treks. For starters, its hybrid shell construction that utilizes a blend of supple inner and a tough outer materials provides you with enhanced comfort and adaptability to changing landscapes. This supple inner is reinforced to help prevent you from twisting your ankle while still allowing a full range of motion. Additionally, the Kento is constructed with a Gore-Tex Performance Comfort Footwear membrane to keep your feet dry when you're hiking muddy trails or traversing glaciers. Fit was good but they are definitely frankenclankenhiemer compared to other boots. The Michelin sole is like a front end loader tire and weighs about as much.

I just took my first short hike wearing the Mammut GTX hikers, they are a quality boot but I’m a hard man to please, I don’t mind spending a couple hundred bucks or more on my boots but I will know as soon as I slip them on if I got my money’s worth. 1st the heel has a large lip around the outside that could easily get snagged up if your a moderate hiker 2. The fit, runs a bit small this could possibly self adjust after a good hike or 2, this being my dilemma if I choose to really put these boots to the test and my feet through the discomfort to see if “the self adjustment” actually works, if so GREAT, if not will BACKCOUNTRY stand behind these boots and refund or apply FULL PURCHASE PRICE in exchange for another style/brand of boot??? Quality is a 10 aside from the heel, fit/comfort is a 4 the 1st time you put them on YOU DO NOT get that OH YEA THESE ARE AWESOME VIBE, like I said this is 1st walk review, My 1st walk in these boots DISAPPOINTINGLY PAINFUL, TIME THEY SAY HEELS ALL, I’m thinking it’s TIME TO RETURN BOOTS and get another pair of the best hikers in the world SALEWA!!! Sorry MAMMUT you do not compare to SALEWA.

Sorry you didn’t like them but these boots are not backpacking shoes. They are for alpinistas. That “large lip around the outside of heel” is meant to be there so when you wear snow shoes or crampons the straps can have something to hold on to. And in regards to stiffness they are meant to be rigid so you can do things such as kick into the snow and shape out a step on your ascent. Definitely not for average Joe who takes walks in back country.
