I have been using the Foraker for the past couple of seasons as a layer piece for Alpine Missions and Resort skiing. I love the warmth to weight ratio and the longer arms make it a great climbing piece. Low bulk under a shell keeps me from looking like a marshmallow with is always a plus.

Letâs face it- it seems like everyone these days is rocking an Atom AR, and every brand has their own variant to add to the synthetic insulation jacket category. So why go out on a limb and try a jacket that you donât see everybody wearing in the high country? Iâll tell ya; Mammut knows what they are doing when they put together their alpinist pieces, and the Foraker Advanced IS jacket is no different. Unique features like integrating a Pertex Microlight shell and strech fleece make it appropriate for everything from touring to hitting up the lodge after a long day skiing or even casually strolling downtown. With 60 grams of PrimaLoft Silver insulation, this jacket provides just enough warmth when not moving around in temps around 40-50 degrees and is perfect as an outside layer when ski touring in temps 20-35. The fleece underneath the arms allows for great ventialation- I personally havenât overheated while wearing this jacket during high output activities. If it is a really warm day, but you know it is going to be chilly up top, this jacket conveniently packs into itâs own chest pocket, so it takes up hardly any room in your pack. Sizing on this jacket does run fairly small (Euro fit); I went with the XL and I am normally a Large. So if you are looking for a jacket that is versatile, functional, and bomber, give this jacket a shot. Besides, how could you go wrong with anything named Foraker???
