Used for ice skating &cross country skiing in Alaska. Form-fitting but comfortable. Pares well with thin base-layer.

Run small. Color is blue; not black.

I ordered size 30 since the sizing chart says 30.7" - 31.9" waist and I'm a 31" waist. These arrived and they are much too small even when wearing no base layer like I always would when wearing them and that was with the waist adjusted to the largest setting. Also, I'm slim and even this athletic fit was much too thin through the legs. Order at least one size up. A 32" might be right for me, but I won't be reordering due to the following color issue. These are offered in colors "Azurit" (a bright blue) and "Night" which appears to be black on the website. I ordered "Night" and they are a dark blue rather than black. I would not have ordered them if I'd known they were not black. Backcountry could help avoid returns if they stated a descriptive color to go along with the manufacturers color. In this case, something like: Night (dark blue). I'll be returning these, unfortunately. Even though I really love the stretch material and other features and one or two sizes up might fit right, they are not the color I want so I will be returning and not reordering.

Took them to Mt. Aoraki and Tasman in New Zealand’s winter conditions. Pros: It was so cold and the snow was so deep… these pants handled everything well. Sturdy, didn’t get wet or even damp. Warm and comfy. Compatible with your boots and crampons. Waist runs high which you want and protects you from backpack chafing. Only two cons…. Well they’re pretty expensive. And a little heavier. Most importantly: they look really good, you’ll look smart

I was warned to go a size higher (32x32 my size). I went up twice to a 36x32. These are a European slim fit cut. More flash than brawn and just feels down right cheap for the price. This item is more for a very young man sporting a man bun !!
