Chamuera HS Thermo Hooded Parka

Sure, the Alps are famous for their steep ski slopes and challenging terrain, but you're more interested in taking things slow, not ripping around on a pair of sticks. When wandering about a valley in Switzerland, the Men's Mammut Chamuera HS Thermo Hooded Parka not only protects you from the elements, it helps you look savvy and sophisticated when you're in town sampling the local cuisine. The face fabric blocks the wind and rain while you're hiking through beds of aster and saxifrage, and the body-mapped insulation will ward off the winter chill without making the arms too bulky. When the snow starts falling you can cinch up the hem and hood and keep on enjoying the raclette and rosti they're serving in the town market.

Faulty zipper/poor design

I've used it several times
True to size
Size Bought

The main zipper on this jacket does not work properly, the teeth fail to line up correctly every time. This makes it impossible to easily taken he jacket on and off easily. It’s a comfortable jacket otherwise and fits true to size. However, I can’t recommend buying this product with such a glaring flaw.

Backcountry customer service really let me down on this. I received no response from their team in over 48 hours, after going through chat feature they were not willing to standby this product or provide a reasonable resolution despite being a frequent customer. I've had much better experiences with REI, and guess this will be last time i buy from Backcountry. They have a good selection here, but if the service stinks you are better off buying elsewhere!

Great Parka

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Runs small

Extra Large

I ordered quite a few different brands as I needed a Parka to go to Iceland with. This one had the best fit and can also be used for business travel to during the winter as it also has the urban look. Buy a size up as Mammut runs small, but you'll have plenty of room for layering. Also, the weight is good and I stayed warm vs overheating in some of the other heavier styles.

Solid jacket

I returned this product before using it

I unfortunately ended up returning both medium and large size of this jacket, even though I love the style and how it feels when you wear them. My chest size is 42in, so Large fits perfectly for my chest/shoulder size, but my waist is 32in, which means medium should be the option for it. I purchased both sizes to compare and planning to return one of them, but neither of them did work. Again, great, minimalistic, lightweight yet very warm jackets. Go for it if you believe one of them would be your size!

Great fit and quality

I've used it several times
True to size

Really happy with this jacket. Great-looking city parka - clean, but not too clean, and not too technical. Quality details in the zippers, pulls, buttons, and pockets. Internal pocket has fun orange detailing and is big enough for large phones. The fit is fantastic for me as a tall, skinny guy - fitted, but still room for a thick sweater. Not too bulky, either. Quite warm and windproof - was fine waiting outside in 30F w/ 20 mph winds with just a thin fleece underneath. Though in super cold conditions, I'll probably add a real mid-layer. Overall, a great combination of style, fit, and quality in this one.

Is it waterproof?
