    Surrounded protection from moisture.

The Lowa Women's San Francisco GTX Lo Shoe has the protection needed for the humidity that hangs around California's Golden City. Gore-Tex's Surround technology wraps the shoe in a waterproof and breathable membrane for enhanced protection that doesn't interfere with ventilation. Most waterproof and breathable membranes leave the rubber sole unprotected so your foot doesn't get clammy, but that leaves a wide open area for water to seep through. Surround technology fixes that by including the membrane underfoot and adding ventilation slits in the rubber sole so your foot stays protected and prevents clamminess. This casual shoe also features a seamless upper made of nubuck leather, a sneaker-like Summer Travel rubber sole, and PU Monowrap midsole for cushioned comfort, trail-worthy stability, and support for long walks from Golden Gate to Fisherman's Wharf.

Globe Trotter? International Business Person? City Slicker? Urbanite? This shoe is for you.
Packs light in a bag or suitcase, and stays dry no matter how hot or wet the city gets.

The San Fransico Shoes have Gore-Tex Surround which keeps you dry from the inside out in every type of weather. Also, they have a lot of technology that goes into the design features so your feet can remain fatigue free. This really is the shoe of choice, if you need a lightweight shoe for your bag or carry on, that can also handle tons of mileage in varied weather conditions.

I am typically a size 9.0, sometimes an 8.5. The size 9.0 is right for me, in these shoes. They are a low profile shoes, so they will work for most feet. If you need to use inserts for your high arch or want more cushion, size up a half a size. Otherwise, go true to size.

I've tested these in water and the Gore-Tex Surround performs just as its reputation would lead you to believe. The water beads up and rolls right off. You can handle any rainstorm, hot and sweaty day or slip of a rock and into pond, in these shoes. The soles are pretty grippy though, so you probably won't slip off rocks.

I will give them 4 stars because I don't know how long they will last yet, and I wish they had a bit more cushion. But then, they would weigh more and be harder to pack, so still torn on the cushion.

    City Slicking Shoe

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

My wife got these shoes a little while back for just an every day to day use shoe. She really enjoyed the softer footbed and the midsole which provided comfort while walking around downtown for lunch. We experienced a recent snow melt and with that came fun stomping puddles (not that she tromped through them). She did, however, had no choice but to walk through the muck that was presented with that melt. The new Gore-Tex Surround tech did a good job of not only keeping the tops of her feet dry but also the bottoms and the toes! Granted you shouldn't be going ankle deep in water or you will get an overflow in these shoes.

These shoes fit pretty true to size. She regularly wears a size 9 in Nike and Salomon. They do run a bit narrow, so if you have wider feet, beware! You may feel like these are a bit tighter than normal.

    Narrow Do-it-All-Shoe

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I'm a size Eu39 or a 8.5US in these shoes and they run pretty true to size. If you have a narrow, low-volume foot then this is an awesome shoe from the city to the hills. Took these around Salt Lake City, running some errands - then immediately hiked up a pretty loose, rocky, steep trail in the foothills of the Wasatch and they gripped no problem. Even stuck to tree roots and slick rock.

    Low profile

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I am a fan of low profile shoes without an excessive amount of sole or arch in the bottom. These were perfect for that. They are great for casual use everyday or for use on mild trails (I haven't tested them on super rugged terrain). The tread kind of reminds me of a skate board shoe so I didn't slip even walking through some puddles. The Gore-Tex waterproofing was great! Just don't try to step in anything that goes over your ankles! But my toes stayed nice and dry. I am a pretty true size 8 in women's and I got these in same size and I'd say they fit true to size. My only complaint is that I noticed they were a bit snug near the ball of my foot. I don't have a particularly wide foot and I got used to it after wearing it around all day, but someone with a wide foot might not find it very comfortable. I'm pretty confident they will break in though since they are leather and I won't notice the tightness as much. Take that with a grain of salt though because I am sandal/barefoot person so most shoes feel restricting to me :)

Looks great but not very comfortable

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I LOVE the way these shoes look and was hoping they would work as my everyday and travel shoe, but they don't. They slipped on my heel, the instep was stiff (read: really need to be broken in) and they felt really hard under the ball of my feet. Cute for running errands in, but that's about it. Would not be comfortable all day or for long walks. Returning.
