Why We Like The TX Canyon Shoe

The TX Canyon Shoe packs in all the features with none of the heft. The ultra-light build breathes, supports, and flexes for a fatigue-fighting ride that regulates temp and sheds water, while its roomy fit accommodates our neoprene socks. From slick slots to dusty chimneys, the sticky sole, with its deep lugs and flat tread, gives us traction we can count on.

Definitely not made for canyons

From the midsole down I give these shoes a five star - comfort even for long dry hikes, excellent stickiness to rock. They are not great at edging because they are round which is great for protecting feet from injuries. From midsole up I give these two stars, the only good things are that they are (very loosely open) hightops, and that laces are stronger in water than TXGuides. If there is a rock in the canyon, these boots will put that rock between your ankle and the upper, requiring you to stop frequently to remove rocks. These will also fill your boot with gravel. Again, requiring you to stop to empty gravel. Whoever made these didn't try them in a canyon. Laces also untie in flow, and these exposed laces will drown you by catching strainers and holding you under water. Or break your leg, whichever happens first. Poorly designed shoes. Could all be fixed by having a neoprene gaiter that protects laces and keeps out gravel. Such would also increase foot warmth by reducing flow. Instead we get three layers of velcro straps that accomplish...nothing at all???
