Why We Like The La Sportiva TC Pro Climbing Shoe

La Sportiva's TC Pro Climbing Shoe has been remastered by two big wall legends, bringing even more endurance performance to our multi-pitch missions. The narrowed medial webbing increases foot-jam comfort, while the revamped rand boosts durability and grip through long crack systems. When we venture onto the face, the full sole's stiffer rubber supports us on credit card edges, and the medium-high asymmetry gives us precision and power on near non-existent holds.

  • High performing climbing shoe for trad lines and big walls
  • Medium-high asymmetry balances comfort and precision
  • Flat profile provides daylong wearing comfort
  • Vibram XS Edge rubber offers hardwearing support
  • Perforated leather with synthetic lining stretches a half size
  • Ventilated, padded tongue provides breathable comfort
  • Touch of ankle padding gives protection in wider cracks
  • Embossed topo outlines pay homage to Dawn Wall and Freerider

Crampons for Granite

I've used it several times
Size Bought:
5' 7"

While i cannot speak to the changes since version 1, which a lot of climbers complain about, i have enjoyed these so far. Hayden was right, these are crampons for granite! They stick to whatever you set your foot on and the stiffness in the toebox/toe takes all the strain off your toes. PROS: - Sticky Rubber - Stiff Flat Toebox - Mid-top protects ankles in cracks - Tommy's name on the box :) - smearing granite and stepping on tiny dimples never felt so good. -p3 heels are my favorite CONs: - Why is there a tongue that is easily folded over? i have to carefully put these on concentrating not to fold the tongue over. the tongue should be a full side to side to prevent this. being on a hanging belay trying to correctly put these on because the tongue is so easily bunched up (which would create pressure points is outrageous and i have no idea how testers did not complain about this. - Apparently the build quality is not as good as before but i've only put like 300m on these so far so i can't speak to that either. they're holding up okay. - For me, a person with wider feet, these feel a bit narrower than the skwarmas (42 in skwarmas are much wider than 43 in TCs). i blame tommy for having narrow feet.

what u expect

I've put it through the wringer
Size Bought:
5' 7"

I think performance wise, sportiva has this shoe pretty dialed. does everything people hype it up to. with that being said, the tongue on this model has consistently given me issues. the tongue feel not quite wide enough, so the edges roll pretty bad the closer to the toe, which makes sock less wearing pretty uncomfy. aside from that, this shoe is all it is cracked up to be.. literally

Second best gym shoe after Drago

I've put it through the wringer
Size Bought:
5' 8"

Got the pair for outdoor climbing and then shipped out all gym shoes to be resoled & this pair was the only one left at home. Was surprised about the grip and control you get with this shoe. So far climbed by hardest lead routes indoors in this pair of TC. Surprisingly close in performance to my Drago, which is much more aggressive and supposedly way stickier rubber. Smallest holds is not a problem for this shoes. Only one negative so far, the heal is bit looser than I wanted to be for heal hooks. Otherwise love it!

Durable and liking it!

At first I don't like the new TC Pro, but I think it over and since Tommy n Alex redesigned it, I've decided to try the new TC Pro and liking it now. It fits comfortable now and more durable than old TC Pro. I trusted it in weird foot hold and it hold. I wore it for a long time even when I’m belaying my climbing partner and it's fine. I used it to 3 times a week. I hand washed it and it didn't shrink or anything. I want to see how will it perform outdoor. Yeah I trust Tommy and Alex!

The Old Model Was Better, Stay Away

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I've owned three pairs of the old model--and they were resoled--so I'm familiar with how the old ones performed. The toe box is stiffer and the neon-green lace protector is actually a rectangle of folded over fabric, forming a two-layered square of fabric. (The old TC Pros, perhaps paradoxically, had a thin rand for sensitivity, even though they were a crack/bigwall shoe. So maybe they made the rand thicker on this version.) The result: the toes seem uncomfortable from the get-go and that neon green fabric, well, you feel the square of it press into your foot like the princess and pea. But I'm not dainty--I prefer off-width. And because I like crack climbing, I get shoes half a size larger than my street shoe. Loose doesn't matter in big crack or in 5.10 trad, so comfy is the way. So when I say that neon-green flap is *really irritating* when you lace the shoes snug, you should believe me. I buy shoes larger so I can keep them on all day. There's no reason my (slightly) oversized shoes should cause me pain when I'm just standing in them, forcing me to take them off. I didn't give these a chance to break in, so maybe they get better. Maybe they don't. I'll find out when my old TC Pros can't go through another resole. Bring back the shoes we fell in love with.

What Happened!?!?!

I returned this product before using it
Size Bought:
5' 10"

I was super excited to buy the new TC Pros... only to find they changed the toe box and made it slightly aggressive, turning the toe down (no longer the all day comfy wear shoe). Why LA Sportiva Gods?!?!? This shoe was perfect for slabs and cracks, but now it's a Jack of some trades... sorta. I hope they fix these soon. Size matches old style. Thanks Tommy Caldwell!!! ??
