Why We Like The Nucleo High II GTX Wide Boot
The La Sportiva Nucleo High II GTX Wide Boot is what we strap up when we're getting ready for intense hikes in the backcountry. The durable Vibram tread looks more like something we'd normally find on an overlander vehicle while the tall lace-up build keeps our ankles protected. This mid-duty boot is made with water-resistant GORE-TEX material too and helps us get across stream crossing without issue.

Great boot, but not very wide.
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Size Bought:
- 10.5 Wide
Well made boot, but if you need a EE wide boot, this will still be too narrow. If they eve make this in a true wide/EE, I will buy it again.

Uppers rip apart after minimal use

I bought one pair and liked the fit and specs so much that I went ahead and bought a second pair as backup, without waiting. It’s a good thing I had backup because the uppers of the first pair ripped along the mid foot area on both shoes. This happened after only three months of hiking about 10 hours a week. The second pair ripped in the exact same spots on both shoes after four months. I only wore them for hikes, not in between. Look at the photo, you can see the treads are barely worn. I’m only giving them two stars because they were comfortable and the tread was grippy.

Great fit and great comfort

These boots were just what I needed on a recent adventure into the wilderness. I put about 20-miles on a brand new pair and had zero issues with blisters or hot spots. They’re comfortable, warm and light. Worlds better than my Aequilibrium mountaineering boots, which while good and hard on the feet. Mine have held up great and I haven’t had any issues with the rubber falling apart. In fact, they held up great when I scrambled up a scree field to get to the top of a small mountain.

Didn’t hold up at all

10 days and about 20-25 miles into owning this boot it was literally falling apart. The rubber on the front separated from the fabric and chunks of the sole came out

They are not wide enough. I need an extra wide boot. But the boot is real nice.
