Toe of shoe issues

I have always climbed with La Sportivia and have loved them. This shoe however wears out very quickly on the toe. Just 4 months into using them and the toe is completely tore out.

Laces torn after 3 use

Used for crack climbing in granite. The laces near the buttons at the fron of the toes snapped, rendering the shoe useless and requiring a replacement lace. Both bottons on both sides of the shoe bends quite quickly and becomes a pressure point in the shoe when jamming.

Hoping the original Mythos return

I've put it through the wringer
Size Bought:
5' 6"

Came here to buy a pair of Mythos, even though my wife had trouble with her eco version wearing out quickly (the laces even quicker.) I though maybe she just got a bad pair, but the reviews indicate her problems were not unusual. Of all the bad things we do to the environment that could be easily fixed, this shoe is a weird place to try and make a difference.

Wore down in 1/4 time of old version

I have worn mythos for over a decade, however the new eco version break down incredibly quickly. After only three months of climbing both toes had broken down. It is still the same comfortable shoe but not worth buying an eco product that lasts 1/4 the normal length of the previous version. Please bring back the old shoe!

Great shoe w/ possible quality issues

Bought these shoes this season and after the initial break-in period they have been very comfortable and served me well for crack climbing however…. The sole started delaminating fairly soon after purchasing them and now, with maybe 30 or 40 pitches of use the sole is almost starting to come off! What good is a crack shoe if you can’t jam it in cracks?? Seems like they’re not very durable or they’re not using good glue or something. It’s a shame because otherwise the shoes have been nice to wear.

What happened to my favorite Trad shoe??

Its really sad to see a tried and true product you have relied on go down in quality. I love this shoe and have been wearing it since I started multipitch climbing 8 years ago. I used to have this shoe +laces last multiple seasons. After 2, weekend trips to Yosemite and a 6 weeks of climbing in the gym 1-2 days a week the laces have completely ripped and the rand is wearing significantly fast. I usually expect a pairing climbing shoes to last a bit longer then this especially when they are designed for this purpose for crack climbing!! La sportiva I love your shoes and want to use them but this makes me want to look somewhere else. Please work on your quality and laces and I will reconsider thank you.

Horrible New Version

I have owned about seven pair of the old Mythos over ten years, and many of my friends had pairs of these as well. We all agree- this is a terrible new version that has very little in common with the previous Mythos. It feels cheap and plasticky. The rubber is not as sticky and feels thick and clunky on edging (used to be the real feature of the Mythos). The laces are cheap and lacing not fitted. The body doesn't;t mold to the foot as it used to. All in all, a different and awful imitation of what used to be an excellent shoe. Why did you do this, La Sportiva?

I've put it through the wringer

My street shoe is a 43 (10) and I initially bought a size 42 (9) and they are definitely too big. My toes laid flat and barely touched the toe end of the shoe, if at all. Seriously, I would size down a minimum of 2 sizes in this shoe. With my size 42, right out of the box I could have easily worn regular socks without any issue and they still felt too big. That's how big these run. And they will stretch! I settled with a size 41 and they are perfect. When sizing shoes for a comfortable, all day fit/wear, I have never sized down this much, including other La Sportiva shoes like TC Pro (42.5) and Cobra Eco (42.5). Great shoe for long multi-pitch and they perform better than expected. Perform awesome for smearing and cracks.
