Why We Like The Miura Lace Climbing Shoe

Sometimes there aren't as many footholds as we'd like; other times there are fewer than that. The La Sportiva Miura Lace Climbing Shoe has a technical advantage so we can get creative with our footwork. Its Vibram XS Edge can either crimp greasy micro-edges or something smaller, less-greasy off to the side.

The Miura sports a moderate downturn ideal for both vertical and overhung climbs, and the aggressive asymmetry directs all the power directly to the toe for a precise performance. La Sportiva made the upper out of an 8-panel leather that stretches in key areas to conform to your foot's shape, and the slingshot rand around the heel helps the shoe keep an aggressive performance for a long time.

The best all-around high performance shoe around

This is THE best jack-of-all-trades, high performance climbing shoe that I have ever owned. If I had to chose only 1 climbing shoe to use for the rest of my life, it would be this shoe. It is great at edging, cracks, steep terrain, slab. Although other shoes may be better at each of these disciplines individually, this shoe does it all with incredible performance. If I am going somewhere new and don't know what to expect with the footwork, this shoe is always in my bag. From Hard sport, to multipitch trad, this shoe does it all, and has been since the 90's.

Good old miura

I’ve been relying on these for 15 years (nothing is as solid for edging and generally keeping my feet happy). Contrary to some of the other reviews, I think the new ones are the same great shoe.

Sizing Changed

I've been climbing in the Miuras since the early 2000s and have loved the shoes over the years. Recently my old pair needed to be resoled, so while they were off at the shop getting new rubber I ordered a pair of the new models. I wanted a size just a little larger for all day comfort so I ordered 46 (normally I order 45.5). When I got them they are smaller than the 45.5 that I had off being resoled. I'm not sure why they changed the sizing and the unfortunate part is that 46 is the largest size they have, so I can't order the next size up.....

Good climbing shoes overall but not durable

I bought this pair of shoes 3 months ago and I am a weekend climber. These shoes are pretty good overall but not durable at all. Within 3 months the rubber on my toe has been massively scratched. The last Miura pair which I had couldn't resist more than one year. I reckon the price is too high by taking into account the durability.

Older model was better

Not a big fan of the new version of these. They used to be probably the best all around shoe on the market. Now they're closer to an aggressive bouldering shoe. The sizes are different from the old version too, they're sized down smaller now. I went w/ my normal size 42 and ended up having to get them soaking wet every time i used them just to get them on my feet, well after the break in period. In conclusion, you're better off going w/ the katanas. Don't waste your money unless you've tried them and know for a fact they're what you want.

Miura

My third pair over a twenty year period. I’ve tried others in between, but always come back to Miuras. I hope you never stop making them as long as my old body is still able to pull on stone

Fits great, durable and precise.

They keep getting better. A solid shoe. Love it for climbing granite and limestone. Excells on steep edges.

The venerable Miura!

I have been climbing in the Miura since it first came out many many moons ago. It WAS the Smith Rock shoe. It has since turned into the shoe I use the most for difficult multi-pitch routes. Classics like the Naked Edge in Eldorado Canyon are perfect for the Miura. Or is the Miura is perfect for the Naked Edge:) When the new design was rumored to be coming out I was a bit worried that it would change. There are some slight changes which are mostly cosmetic but the new heel rand and fit are better for me now. I have a narrowish type foot and low heal volume so that was very welcomed. I can't imagine this shoe leaving my quiver anytime soon! Thanks Sportiva!
