Why We Like The Blizzard GTX Trail Running Shoe
The La Sportiva Blizzard GTX Trail Running Shoe was designed for those of us who don't shy away from the trail even when it's painted with a fresh coat of snow. Its high-traction outsole, waterproof construction, and built-in gaiter all help us thrive in tough terrain and even tougher conditions.
The GORE-TEX membrane offers best-in-class protection from frigid moisture when you're slogging through snow and slush, while a no-nonsense outsole ensures that you won't be slipping up on technical trails. Not only is this outsole equipped with deep lugs and a grippy rubber compound, but it also comes with integrated tungsten spikes that dig into ice, packed snow, and other slippery surfaces to ensure that you won't have to slow down when the going gets a bit tricky.

Right tool for the job.

Obviously a pretty niche use case, but a really well engineered solution. I paid about $150 for them, which is obviously a little punchy for a limited use shoe, but they have been fantastic for winter trail running and I have got a fair bit of use out of them for more strenuous winter hiking too. The metal studs have been a lifesaver when I've encountered hidden ice under the snow while running.

Studded all wheel drive for winter runs

I bought these last winter and have run everything from icy gravel path and pavement to mountain trails on Colorado and the Blizzard is amazing. It's a medium/wide fit with plenty of room for my toes to splay while still keeping a narrow enough profile for technical trails. I ultimately bought these a half size bigger than my Bushido II's and that's been a good fit with a thicker sock and providing a little more toe room. I highly recommend these for year round running in the mountains and on slick/icy paths.

Trail shoes with a bite
Great shoes for the trails. The metal studs or spikes are somewhat aggressive especially when on a hard surface. Love the shoes, my third pair (first with the studs) mountain boots and an early model of the ankle -lace wrap.

Winter trail ultra race
I purchased it online. Since it is unisex and in European size I had difficult time figuring out my size. Both Uragano and Blizzard are the best shoes for my winter trail races. I had better experience with Uragano, in contrary if I had size or half size bigger Blizzard it might’ve worked better. It is worth the price, however it’d be too expensive to purchase another size bigger pare, which I’d probably do.

Excellent winter addition
Living in the Sierra I spend most of my winter season on skis but try to get in a few days each week running to keep the legs turning over for the trail and ultra season. The blizzard provides exceptional traction and security that allows me to keep things up tempo as needed and the comfort and warmth for longer runs as well.

Awesome! Ten out of ten.
Absolutely love these. The lacing system is incredible. Makes the trails accesible in the winter up here in Maine. Nothing negative to say other than that I would love a wild color pattern.

Super 4WD winter trail show
I have beaten these shoes in variable winter conditions for the past three weeks around 5 days a week, they are super comfortable and cozy even when they have been dunked in super cold melt water and then run through the snow. Stoked and looking forward to punishing them throughout this winter.
