    rough and tough

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I use these pants for climbing in Indian. they are great for off-width climbing. they have lasted longer then any other pair of pants I have used before.

    Hard on these pants

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 36X30
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 220lbs

My husband is on a swat team and wore these pants for a week straight at a sniper school he attended. He had no issues with the front button though he wears a belt all the time. He owned and wore these pants before the school and after the first wash he did have the same fading problem that other people have mentioned. He noticed “lines” in his pants where they faded. There also seemed to be permanent creases in the pants if care was not taken to fold them. During his week long class he was crawling around cactus ridden ground and granite mountains. The pants held up extremely well and only had wear marks on the back pockets. There were small holes on the back pockets but he had hard rifle magazines in those pockets and was rubbing up against rocks so this was expected. He wants to get more pants like these but hoping KUHL fixed the fading and crease issue.

    KUHL pants are cool, man!

    • Size Bought: 30x30
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 140lbs

First off, these pants are super durable and will last you a long time. To me this is the biggest factor that makes them so great, as I'm very rough on my clothes and generally go through pants pretty quick. I got two pairs of these, and they're the only pants I plan on wearing for the next year at least.

The relaxed fit and articulated knees also make these pants great for mostly any outdoor activity (hiking, climbing, kicking it by the fire, etc)

The only issue I've found is that the snap-button pops open on its own pretty easily. Easy remedy, always wear a belt. This is a minor issue to me so I still give these pants 5 stars

    Great comfort and durability

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 40 x 32
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 240lbs

These have been my go to pants for the last few years. They have the durability of jeans, yet are more comfortable and flexible. They look nice enough that I wear them to work as well. I like the cell phone pocket. The downsides I have noticed is that the darker colors do tend to fade on the creases and over time the bottom seam seems to wear in the front (most other pants of mine seem to wear in the back).

    Good all around pant

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 160lbs

I've owned a few pair of these now and they are still great quality. Durable yet good looking - the only negative feature of this pants is the button snap which sometimes has trouble staying fastened if I'm really moving around.

    Nice Fitting, Stiff Fabric

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 34
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 190lbs

Kuhl pants are a great fit but the Ryder fabric is very stiff. So when they are washed, multiple discolored creases happen throughout the legs.

    Button Snap defective

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 33x30
    • Height: 5'7"
    • Weight: 164lbs

Ordered the Ryder pant, button snap was defective cost $7 to return and $10 in gas to drive to UPS, $17 is too much money to just try on a pair of pants. I'm buying local from now on......it's cost less time and money.

    Comfortable and Tough

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32x34
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 170lbs

I love these pants, my old job had me living outside and hiking for 8 days at a time. Wore these during most of my shifts and boy did they take a beating. These pants are tough (not quite as difficult to rip as other Kuhl pants but tough nonetheless) super comfortable and I will definitely be getting this same pant again.

    Built to Last!!!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 34x34
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 200lbs

Super durable, super thick (but once I got them on they were so comfortable that I didn't notice how thick they were. I love the suede kind of material around the waste. They are great looking pants that feel like they would last forever.

    Built to Last!!!

Color fades far too much after 1st wash

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 200lbs

The indigo along with the dark khaki and grey were placed separately in the washing machine and after washing the color faded off at numerous spots all over the pants for all three. At this point they look like tie-dies, the indigo looks too silly to wear (imagine dark indigo along with white stripes where the color bled off), the other two are not as bad looking.
I'm going to have to look into applying my own dye.

    Great work pants, bad button...

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 230lbs

I use these pants for work and they are holding up great, but as other reviewers have said - I hate the button. You definitely have to wear a belt to keep that button clasped. It's the same style button on Kuhl's other products too and yes a belt is a must. But they are holding up well and they are super comfy. Really like the fit too.

    😏Back to the Drawing Table

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 155lbs

Positives: The fit is great, they're comfortable, the ergonomic fit is awesome.
Negatives: The French button - if you're not wearing a belt your pants will come unbuttoned when you squat or bend. The material - I had the cuffs, pockets, and butt frayed within a few wears. The look - I washed these pants and forgot to put them in the dryer one night. Once they were dry, I now permanently have crease marks all over the pants.
Options: Marmot makes great ergonomic pants at this price point, but they have some stretch. Carhartts and Patagonia work wear pants are great if you want something a little more burly. If you can afford it and you're willing to drop the cash, Fjallraven pants are the best outdoor/everyday-wear pant on the market!

    the good stuff

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

Gave these as a gift to my Dad, and since then, he has bought like three more pairs! Safe to say that he likes them. I noticed right out of the package that the material used is way high quality and will last longer than anything else in your wardrobe.

    Great looking pants

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 34x32
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 210lbs

These pants are super comfortable and really nice looking. I sometimes have trouble finding pants that either make me look frumpy or like I'm about burst out of them. These actually look good! They feel durable enough for work pants but look good enough to be everyday pants. I would buy 10 more pairs of these if I could!

    Ripped before wearing them

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 34x36
    • Height: 6'3"
    • Weight: 210lbs

I have been on the fence about ordering these pants for several months due to the cost per pair and my profession and how hard it is on clothing. I finally pulled the trigger and bought two pairs. The first pair I opened for very well. After I got to work about an hour later I noticed a small rip right above the right knee. I hadn't done anything but drive to work.

The Most Durable of 'Em All - Ya'll

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32 x 32
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 155lbs

The labeling on the Rydr indicates a Full Fit. My experience is that is has more of a "Taper" from the Knee down to the Ankle.
This canvas like pant is incredibly durable and fits very much like the FreeRydr except with thicker fabric. I love these pants!
These pants are designed and made with contouring for an active lifestyle indoors and outdoors. The style is great. Durability is incredible. Pockets are useful and handy. This pant tapers from the knee down to the ankle for the more slim or tapered look. Color choices seem a bit redundant-however, there are many choices. I have many of them now and don't wear jeans anymore. They have become my "go-to" all around active-lifestyle pants. These a bit more in the FALL-Winter and Spring due to the thicker fabric. Great working pant or Mountain pant. -Great with button up shirts. Both long-sleeve and short-sleeve. Finished it off with some leather shoes or boots.

    Nice Pants

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 32x30
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 165lbs

I am 5' 11'' and 165 pounds. The fabric is great; thick, and rugged. I love the taper from the knees down. I usually wear a 32x30 in all other pants, but these are a bit too large in the waist, causing a bulge where my bits and pieces are, which doesn't look too cool. I think next time I would order a 31 waist? Perhaps it is due to the relaxed fit? Perhaps it is due to the style of waist that Kuhl has? Overall these are nice looking and rugged pants. I would not pay full price for them for sure. Wait until they are on sale!!

Who do we have to kill around here to get...

Who do we have to kill around here to get some longee inseam pants?! Not everyone is a 32....

Hey guys, I'm a big fan of the material...

Hey guys, I'm a big fan of the material that Kuhl uses and the styling looks excellent, however the last pair of pants a bought from them also had the snap button at the waist (ridiculous in my opinion on a rugged pant) anyway, I used them for working outdoors and every time I would bend over the button would pop, not convenient when wearing gloves. Any chance they improved the design at all over the last year or two? or are they still popping open when you bend over?

Thanks for the input in advance!

P.S. Im relatively fit and have no beer belly to speak of, so that's not my issue.

Hi Miguel. I work for Kühl am writing to answer your question. Your pair of pants with the weak snap has indeed been updated. We had Fiochi, the Italian maker of our snap, re-engineer the snap for us with an improved, stronger spring. The new spring and snap design by Fiocchi takes care of the issue you mention. (contact us at cutomerservice@kuhl.com for a repair/replacement. Simply describe your issue to one of our representatives.) Hope this helps. Thanks for admiring our materials and designs.
BTW: Want to know why we use a Fiochi snap? Our snaps are designed to lay flat and not "dig" into your waist (think of the typical jean button fly with its rivet-stem-button.) When you wear a belt or a backpack with a belt, the Fiochi flat snap will prove itself to you! Cheers~ Kühl Social Media

O they updated the spring alright! Now it's almost too hard to open. I always have to yank my crotch every time I undo these. I'm not the biggest fan of the button...
However, these are excellent pants besides that small factor.

I just received a pair of Khaki Rydr's....too...

I just received a pair of Khaki Rydr's....too bad the "khaki" color is more of a green!
    Anybody else run into this?
    See the attached pic.
FYI: That's a green couch and a khaki colored blanket in the background.
    Great pants nonetheless....

I just received a pair of Khaki Rydr's....too...

Kuhl is known for there excellent customer service. I think on their web site they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee. It's like, if you are not satisifed, I think even with color, you could exchange them on a return. I am not sure if they take them from Backcountry, you could ask backcountry if they would exchange the color becuase BCountry is good about returns too. I have the khakis and like the vintage dye fade, river washed fabric on the RYDR,each one is unique.
