Buy it once, buy it for life
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Yes these are the most expensive roof racks out there, but having had every brand and every type of roof bike carrier, the Piston SR is worth it. East to use, one hand operated with built in cable lock. When not in use they fold flat and aerodynamic, zero whistles or noise.

Rock Solid
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Used it on two separate thousand mile road trips at this point, and has kept my bike sturdy throughout both. Easy load and offload. No signs of wear on the bike. Was initially hesitant to get a rooftop mount, but this has taken all worries away.

The Ferrari of Bike Racks

There's a lot to like about this rack. It's sturdy, all metal-construction is confidence inspiring. Especially for something that's going to be holding your high-priced carbon bicycle while barreling down the highway at 70mph. It holds the bicycle without touching any painted or carbon areas on the bike. Super easy to get the bike in and out of. The easily-stowed cable lock for those trips into the convenience store to grab a drink or snack is very handy. Bikes can be loaded either direction. The build quality is second to none. Really, really high quality. I have been using it with my road bike, gravel bike and full-squish mountain bike, and it holds all of them securely. Yes, it's expensive. However, like anything else you get what you pay for, and it's worth it in my opinion. I had a Thule Sidearm for over 10 years, and this rack should last longer. My only caveat is the rack itself doesn't lock to the crossbars, and I would remove half a star for this if I could. So if someone were to have a correct size hex-key, the whole rack could be stolen. Probably not something that happens a lot, but this is a concern for a $500 roof-rack. My old $180 Thule would locked down and need a key to be removed. I will loop the cable lock around it if I'm parked in a sketchy neighborhood, but this is not ideal.

There is a reason this rack is expensive. It has no equal. It's construction is incredible. All parts are sturdy. The shock mechanism is perfect. Well done Kuat!!!
