When your stakes are high.

Your tent stakes are only going to go down about an inch (if you're lucky) when you're pitching your tent on sandstone, so use the Kelty Sand Bag Stake to be sure your tent doesn't blow away when an afternoon windstorm blows through camp.

It's the little things in life...

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I know, I know, it's weird to be excited about a "sand bag". But these things are rad!

I took six with me on a recent family vacation in Florida. We have a 5-month-old and I wanted to make sure our shade structures were going to stay put.

By the end of the week, I had used them to anchor everything from the intended sun shade, to those cheap umbrellas you have to jam in the sand. I even clipped on to a garbage bag, and then plopped it on our towels so they wouldn't blow away.

The lightweight fabric packed down to almost nothing in my suitcase which makes these a no-brainer for all future beach trips.

The large, double-zippers proved extremely durable, and large enough that they didn't get jammed up with sand. The double-zipper design let's the entire face of the bag peel back so it's extremely easy to fill.

Factor in the genius triangle shape (sits flat and stable without rolling around), the over-sized webbing handle on top (makes it extremely easy to grab and re-position as the wind changes), and the large plastic hook on the bottom (super easy to clip to anything that might blow away) and I have another "wouldn't dream of going to the beach without it" product.
