I have wide feet and almost always find my feet achy at the end of the day from shoes that are made too narrow for me. These shoes are not that way. Awesome comfort and they've held up all day work and outdoor usage for 10 months and still feel and look great. My first pair of Keens and I will be buying more of this brand when I look for new shoes from now on.

Great shoes! Very comfortable and offers great stability. The first pair of shoes I've owned in a while that didn't require inserts. I wear these shoes when I go out to do errands and once they are completely broken in (takes a while) I'll wear these to work. Update - Three months later These shoes are now completely broken in, and are just fantastic. They offer great support and are very comfy, and also look great. 10+ hour days on concrete and wood and these shoes hold up great. Downsides - The leather is constantly stretching, forcing me to re-fit daily. - The leather on the back rim of the left shoe (very top part which touches the ankle) is starting to wear and now the foam underneath is starting to become exposed. However, I wear my shoes fairly tight and walk heel-to-toe. - The shoe laces are beginning to split apart and fray.

Bought these for my dad to switch it up so he wasn't only wearing the portsmouth. He only wears Keen shoes. The portsmouth is still his favorite but he likes these as well.

Bought these as a gift and this was his response: I spend 8 hours a day in a manufacturing facility, on a concrete surface. When I searched for recommended shoes in order to protect my feet and knees, these are what came up, the Austin Shoes. I have now had them for almost 2 months, wearing them daily, Monday- Friday and they are exactly what I needed. The color selection meshes well with dress slacks. The durability is also very strong, they do not look like 2-month old shoes, especially with the wear they have been given. I will buy again when I have officially worn out my first pair.

I am a teacher and I buy beer Keens every year. They last me about 2-3 years. I rotate between black and brown shoes. I have a wider foot, so these are the perfect shoes for me. They are so comfortable being on my feet everyday, but still look professional.

Honestly, I've not worn a shoe that fits my feet better than Keen's Austin. Great comfort, great structure, great support. I put on a new pair of Austins and I don't need to worry about blisters or rubbing my feet the wrong way. My only problem is that I'm not crazy about the aesthetics. I don't find the Austins "ugly" but they are not pretty, either. These are great if you care more about the function at the expense of great looks. I've owned multiple pairs and at some point in the future I'll be going back for more. But if it is a date night I would be going for something different.

I bought these for my father. Size fits perfectly. The dark colors make the shoes more formal than they are supposed to be. That been said, they really nice. It's just a note for those who are looking for casual shoes.

The Keen Austin, one of several pairs of Keens that I own, is a great shoe for multiple applications. I use it mainly as a casual shoe; it looks right with khakis, jeans and other casual wear. I really enjoy the design of the Austin, which permits me to spread my toes! Moreover, Backcountry priced the Austin very favorably.

I purchased these shoes to replace some dress shoes that I had for work. I wanted something that looked nice but was a little more functional than regular dress shoes. I would have given these shoes five stars but I had to purchase third-party insoles since these shoes hurt the top of my feet right at the bottom of the tongue, where my toes connect to my foot. With the insoles, these shoes are so comfortable and I'll definitely be looking at another pair though I'll be getting insoles as well.

Best work shoes I've ever owned.

I work in an acute care hospital and am on my feet the majority of the day. My feet love these shoes ; even at the end of the day (great arch support, wide toe bed, no pinching, good cushioning). I purchased my 3rd pair with this most recent purchase. I would also like to add that Backcountry has been wonderful. Ordering, changing my order, and returning another item ordered has been painless and delivery was fast. Thank you.

Great winter everyday shoes, well constructed with some protection from the wet and snow while still breathable. Still can't vouch for the durability after only a month but so far so good. My only complaint, at least for my foot is that the ankles run a little high and rub under my medial and lateral malleolus. This was corrected with an extra foot bed insert.

Backcountry.com do not carry the Austin Pedal. Your best bet is to go on the KEEN site and order directly. Jerry

How does one protect the leather of the Keen Austin shoe?

Hey Dale,Depends on what type of protection you're looking for. If it's for waterproofing and keeping the natural moistures in then look at Nikwax products here: http://www.backcountry.com/store/NIK0032/Nikwax-Waterproofing-Paste-Wax.html If you're looking at just protecting them from some basic moisture look at: http://www.backcountry.com/store/NIK0046/Nikwax-Fabric-Leather-Spray-Footwear-Treatment.htmlBoth of those products have their purpose and work very well for what they're intended!Hope that helps.

Do the sizes run true on this shoe? I've seen comments on other sites that say they run small...

i feel the size is true. i am a 9.5 in most brands and that is true with this shoe and keen. the toe box is generous but i find it more comfortable than sloppy.I normally wear an 11, but for KEENs I wear 10. They run a bit wider than the average shoe which is PERFECT for me (I usually wear a 10W, but go with an 11 if the 10W is not available).
