Whether you’re a sunupper or a sundowner, you’ll dig this toasty Kavu jacket.

Don’t turn into a party pooper when the sun goes down and the temps take a dive. Zip up the Kavu Women’s Sundowner Jacket and stay up late. The coated cotton canvas shell takes on the rigors of night life, and the soft nylon lining feels good against your skin. The Sundowner Jacket’s gusseted shoulder cut keeps your coat from hitching up when you raise your arms, and the adjustable cuffs seal out the wind. Triple-needle seams make this jacket super strong while adding some stylin’ detail.

    Love it!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Great quality, thick durable canvas, cute plaid liner, and the hood strings/pulls are a cute touch! I love that you have multiple snap options on the back waistline to tighten it up a little. it fits great with a thick sweater underneath (ordered XS). Highly recommend!

    Complete fuzz attractor

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

I love the fit of this jacket but I’m so disappointed in the unbeatable fuzz the jacket attracts. Lint rolling is nearly pointless because the fuzz just comes back and is impossible to remove completely. The jacket even takes the fuzz from the lining along the zipper and inside. I wouldn’t rebuy this jacket in black Because of this. It is really a rip off ☹️ Wish I purchased the Orvis jacket instead.

Ordered this jacket around Thanksgiving of this year. Have received nothing but compliments since I got it. Today the zipper came apart at the bottom. To fix it one would need to replace the entire zipper. So disappointing!!!

It’s the perfect weight and wind resistance for a California winter w/ fleece hand warmers. Can easily layer underneath it. Everything a girl would want!

    Good fall coat, needs layers!

This coat is stylish and repels rain really well due to the waxed canvas. The plaid lining is a great pop of color to the black coat, and the button details are brassy and lovely. The pockets are lined with a low pile fleecey material and really soft--and the right location for your hands to fit without putting your arms at an awkward angle. Sleeves are long enough for my gangly arms. It is kind of heavy and seems substantial, HOWEVER, this coat is NOT warm. It is perfect for fall, and best in raw weather to be paired with a lightweight midlayer (like the ventrix) in order to be comfortably warm outside for periods of time (without looking stuffed/puffy). I ordered the small so I could layer under, but still ended up moving that decorative(/functional?) snap belt in the back on the tighter setting in order to give it a little more shape. It bunches a little in the back now, but the fit is better (aka: not form fitting but skims the curves in a comfortable, correct, outdoorsy jacket way). All in all, a cute fall coat for around town :)

Great looking, but zipper doesn't hold

This jacket looks great and is nice for an autumn day. After about 6 months of wearing the jacket, the zipper started to disconnect easily if I bent over. When this happens, it's difficult to reconnect the zipper, which is necessary to remove the jacket (although I've definitely pulled it over my head when I get frustrated). This jacket is snug at the hips (I wear size 8 or 10 pants and have the large jacket), which I'm guessing contributed to the zipper issues. I still wear the jacket a year later, but have to be very aware of the zipper when I'm sitting down or leaning over.

    Simply awesome

This jacket looks like canvas but has a waxy, water resistant quality to it. Already getting sooo many compliments. Solid piece and entirely worth the money!

    Nice Jacket

i bought this as a gift for my sister in law for the upcoming winter season. This coat has such a flattering fit and the perfect amount of warmth. Love the plaid lining touch this jacket has!

I adore this coat. I've worn it all winter in Pittsburgh, PA. I get hot easy so heavy winter coats aren't for me! This looks great on, it has a slimming shape to it, and it feels like a bit of a Carhart jacket! Initially when i got it the zipper broke but Backcountry replaced it immediately and I've had no issues since.

      Warm & cozy

Looks great with everything and fits great. Bought it in tobacco color, it's almost like a carhart, only much better. Just wish it was waterproof.

      Great, but size up

My girlfriend loves this coat. Initially purchased a Medium, but it was a tad tight throughout the body and shoulders. She went up to a Large and the jacket remains a slimmer fit, but provides enough breathing room.

      Love this jacket!!

How haven't I reviewed my favorite jacket yet?! Obsessed is an understatement.. I own it in both Tobacco and Black. The fit is incomparable to any other brand I've had. This jacket with it's nylon super soft lining and coated cotton outside provides a surprising amount of warmth and weight. Fall weather with a sweater underneath is ideal but I can get away with a hoody under this in the winter and be warm in temps down to the mid 30's. ALSO I kid you not there is not a day that goes by when I wear this that someone doesn't compliment on it. You need this!!

Perfect coat for spring and fall

I love this coat! The quality of the materials and construction are good. I can move my arms in it, and it keeps me warm outside on damp, chilly evenings and on buses where the air conditioning is inexplicably on full blast in 50 degree weather. The pockets are just deep enough for an iPhone 6 and the extra buttons above and below the zipper are a nice touch. Unfortunately, while it fits well everywhere else, the sleeves are about an inch too short...but I have longer-than-average arms and have accepted this as my lot in life. I might eventually add sweater cuffs to alleviate that problem.

The "spot clean only" instructions are pretty standard for coated fabric and not a problem for me. Maybe I'm gross but I've never washed any kind of coat in my 30+ years on this planet and didn't even realize that was a thing until I saw the other reviews here.

Can this jacket be dry cleaned if it is...

Can this jacket be dry cleaned if it is spot clean only?

      Best Answer

Spot Cleaning essentially means that there is no safe way to wash the item.

If you have a good dry cleaner or know of one, it's always best to take any clothing with that label into them to see if they can take care of the cleaning for you, or if they can point you in the direction of someone who can.

Spot Cleaning can be tricky and it's best done by people who have the right tools and experience to take care of it.

      I hope that helps!
