I love this filter. It's light weight, it packs small, and it filters water quickly.

Best water filter

This is a simple light weight water filter perfect for my backpacking needs. I had a sawyer for a while but it was very slow and more labor intensive. I like to fill some bottles at the water source then bring a full bag back to my site for cooking and topping bottles off before heading out. It’s a very sturdy bag.

Easiest to use water filter system for backpacking!

After years of being envious of my friends' BeFree filters, I finally bought my own. It's fast, easy to use, and easy to clean! I use it for backpacking and the 3L bag is great when for transporting a lot of water back to camp. The BeFree filter is so easy anyone can use it. It's great for beginner backpackers or experts! If you get a small hole in the bag, Aquaseal works great for repairs. If you have a warranty issue with the bag, you'll need to contact HydraPak directly.

Absolutely amazing product

I’ve had many different types of filters in the past and this one is overall better than any of the others! It’s simple to clean and filters water exceptionally well. It’s not the fastest flowing filter but also not slow by any means. Is probably in the top 30% on flow rate. I’m definitely not going to be swapping this out anytime soon either. It’s very durable if you don’t treat it like trash.

Great for Camping

I've used the BeFree product several times while backpacking and camping. It has worked great for providing immediate treated water - ready to drink. These units are fairly light and pack down pretty small. This also make a great product for a home emergency kit or go-bag.

Best filter I’ve used

I’m so happy with this filter. Took it on my Arizona backpacking Havasupai trip. It was super easy to use, no back flushing needed, which is awesome because who wants to bring a syringe with them while trying to keep your pack light. No squeezing necessary. The flow is nice, just let gravity do all the work for you! I think I’ll look into their other products as well. Plus we all stayed healthy, no one got sick.

A must have for the backcountry.

The Katadyn BeFree 3.0 Liter is a must have for your backcountry adventures. Folds up easily and allows an easy top up for a large group…or a single hiker filling up for a known dry section of the trail. Super happy with it and great for any level of hiker or backpacker.

We bring this to Canada every year for a fishing trip. It will hang off a cabinet and filter into a pot. Filters quite fast. We usually get about 4-5 years out of one. After that the flow starts to slow down. It is pretty user friendly overall.

Bought this for a backpacking/fly fishing trip. I can say it is amazing. Easy to use, stows away nicely. I use this solo- so you might consider going to a larger capacity if with family or friends.
