Why We Like The HOKA Anacapa 2 Mid GTX Hiking Boot

The Anacapa 2 Mid GTX is a lightweight hiking boot that HOKA developed for day hikers who love them some cushion. This mid-cut boasts a tall stack of EVA foam that's soft enough to spoil our hiking feet yet solid enough to support them on uneven terrain and tough trails. The waterproof nubuck leather uppers are backed by a waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX membrane to let us walk in all weather while the Vibram Megagrip rubber gives us premium trail tread for both wet and dry conditions. The second iteration of the Anacapa is more eco-friendly than the original with recycled materials integrated into the mesh, vamp, sockliner, collar, laces, and tongue to reduce waste and our environmental footprint.

Don't recommend

To be fair these are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. But I did a 50 mile hike in Peru and the shoes had a hole in them after that. I think that it's shameful to have a shoe that is branded as a hiking shoe and can't even last 50 miles. They need to have a better and more durable design.

I want but can't take the risk

I want to wear these in a tactical setting and they are beyond comfortable. Unfortunately the first time I put them on out of the box at home, the bottom lace hook ripped out. I was able to return them to Scheels but they didn't have my size. After reading other reviews with several others having this common issue, I can't justify spending the money for what I can imagine will happen again and again until a new design is produced. Looking forward to se if these reviews help because they are very comfortable.

Good for everyday use or backpacking in the mountains!

I purchased this for our Mt Rainier trip as a light weight trail shoe until we reached the snow fields and glaciers on our approach then changed to insulated boots. It was a great camp shoe. I hike in these on rocky terrain carrying a 40-50lbs bag and they did great. The GTX worked great while crossing streams and walking on snow around camp. They performed better than I expected. Now I wear them everyday since they provide comfort are light weight and can go off road at a moments notice for unexpected adventures. Anacapa 2 mid GTX performed and over delivered!

Only had these for a week

I only had these boots for a week and wore them 3 times and the metal top hook popped out while tying the boot. As much as these boots cost the the quality should be much better. The hook shouldn't be popping out after only 3 wears.

My Dad can walk again

My dad broke his foot/ankle years ago. He is in his mid 70's now and his ortho wanted to put him in an Arizona brace. I bought him these shoes and he is now walking without pain again. He said these shoes were game changers for him and we are so grateful!

Versatile Perfection

The most comfortable, versatile, enjoyable shoe I've ever worn. It was like these were made specifically for my feet. I've worn through three pairs of these over the last several years and wear these daily. So disappointed in the new colors and the discontinued choice of gray/orange. I really dislike the new colors and hope to see better color options return such as the gray.

Most comfortable shoes,

Keep looking for a comfortable shoe for daily use and occasional hiking - Hoka Anacapa is the one, since the first use I told myself this is the one, very comfortable and lightweight; Highly recommended

Run a bit narrow

These boots felt great and then by the third day the inside of my heels started killing me and were tender to the touch. The only thing I can figure is that the heel isn't as wide as normal.
