Why We Like The HOKA Anacapa 2 Low GTX Hiking Shoe

Made for day hikers who can't get enough cushion, HOKA's Anacapa 2 Low GTX Hiking Shoe keeps things light and plush on the trail. We love how HOKA's max cushion midsoles spoil our feet with max shock absorption, while the extended heel and Vibram Megagrip outsoles give us a stable, grippy base that smooths out our heel-to-toe transitions. The Anacapa 2 Low GTX is fully waterproof for damp and soggy trails with a Late Stage Meta-Rocker that steadies our steps on uneven terrain.

Solid hiking shoe, but wide heel.

I love almost everything about this show, great tread and upper material in particular, but the rear foot portion of the shoe is unusually wide. And this shoe is 1/2 to a full size larger than the Speedgoat 5's I purchased recently. I have to tighten the laced excessively to secure my heel, but otherwise very happy.

So far so good

Went on a nice long hike today after purchasing these and they're nice and sturdy. Feet hurt a little from tying them super tight and having them being brand new, I assume they need some time to break in. I haven't tested the waterproof but if it's goretex I'm sure they're great.

no

They are not great for walking on hard ground, They need speed goat 4 cushion in the soul. I returned them for an exchange for the Bondi 8 hoping they are like the speed goat 4 gore tex style.

I'll try once again if you make a slight change...

The product was a little uncomfortable something with the front part of the shoe maybe the front need to be a little thicker and more cushion not wider but thicker so your not putting as much pressure on the toes for people who have had foot surgery... Also I need you to make me a pair of Tar Summit in a size 12M been waiting for months please...

Waterproof comes with a cost??

These are much stiffer and harder soled than any other Hokas I have owned before, but I assume that has a lot to do with the materials needed to make them waterproof. I'm currently hoping that they get more comfortable after some extensive break-in period, which, again, is never normally needed for Hoka shoes. They also feel like they might be roughly a half size longer than what I normally get.

Used to be perfect

II am 60 and have always been a bit clumsy, so footwear is a big deal. I wear size 14's and am 6'3" and about 200 lbs. I have been wearing these new Anacapa 2 Low GTX's for the past couple weeks. They are replacing my prior Anacapa Low GTX's that were the perfect shoe for me. They fit my foot perfectly, and seemed the perfect blend of stability and comfort, with a very grippy tread that was reliable wet or dry. I wore them primarily for walking but also some hiking. So I am disappointed that everything has been tweaked in a way that changed most of that. The uppers are now thinner and with a wider toe box and less toe reinforcement and the outsole/platform is flatter and stiffer, although the sole is still Vibram rubber. The result is that for my foot, this shoe now does not convey stability and safety. My foot swims around in what seems a flimsy top half of the shoe while the sole does flex enough and hits the pavement/ground with and audible clip clop. Pretty disappointed. I still love Hoka. I have owned 10-15 different pairs over the last many years for all different purposes including patient care, walking, running, hiking and disc golf, too. I will continue to buy Hoka's going forward but my perfect shoe is now gone. I am debating trying the Breeze version...

I would buy these shoes again

I have several different pairs of Hoka now as my knees have arthritis. They are all well cushioned and easy to walk in. Although I am female, I buy men's shoes because they seem to be more comfortable for me.
