Not a perfect fit

I bought these shoes to play golf in. They work fine for golf, but like others have mentioned the fit is too tight in the toe. Especially in the right foot. Has given me a blister on my right big toe. Loosened the laces at the toe, maybe better. Planning to try a thinner sock. Still have 30 days to exchange....we'll see how it goes

Not as wide as wide 2E Hoka bondi

Bought these because I love my wide bondis. I love the shoes but can't wear them. They are to narrow for me and squeeze my outside two toes together so they hurt. Back to my keen hikers I guess.

Amazing

These are the freaking best shoe, I have had in a long time! They are slip ons and you can hike in them. Very comfortable and fit almost perfectly!

Lightweight hiking in style

I just came back from 2 weeks hiking in Colorado and Utah. I bought the Anacapa 2 as I was looking for something lightweight and "small" given I was travelling on a motorcycle and did not want to use up the entire space of one of my panniers for full-size hiking boots. I was in between trail running shoes and a low hiking shoe. After having examined the difference between both, I went with a hiking shoe due to the more stable/ durable sole accepting the weight disadvantage. I am super happy with the Anacapa 2. It performed very well on uneven rocky terrain in the Colorado Rocky's (and Great Basin) and did equally well in Utah on sand and smooth rock. Good grip and decent dampening. Of course I did not expect the same ancle support as I would get from a full-height 6-8in boot. On top of all that, I like the styling of the shoe not being overly flashy allowing it to be the only pair of non-motorcycle shoes I took on this trip. If I would need to find one Con, it would be more of a personal problem than a Hoka problem. I have narrow feet and believe that a C width would be even better than the D width offered.

A most comfortable hiking shoe!

Needed a new shoe for lite hiking with the dogs that had good tread and was comfortable too. This HOKA shoe fits that need perfectly. Would purchase again if this pair ever wore out, which is doubtful.

Surprisingly poor fit

Unlike my other Hoka shoes, the Anacapa 2 Freedom were too tight around the ball of my feet and the toes. The width of the shoe was fine, it was the height that was inadequate, causing the shoes to pinch uncomfortably. The shoes looked good and the quality seemed fine, but they were just too small at the toe end. I returned them and was refunded.

Love the shoes!

I wish they came in wide....had to upgrade a size to get them to fit properly, but they're great!

Disappointed

In the past 3 years I have had at least 5 different pairs of shoes and had awesome experience with all of those except this one. I bought these for trail running and hiking. Every time I wear these I hurt my ankle and toes. Toes hurt more on the descend more. And these are short distance hike from 6 to 10 miles. These shoes have completely spoiled trail running experience. I would like Hoka to pull out of this model or make significant changes to the toe box and the overall comfort factor.
