The moon is a cold place.

The Hestra Women's Moon Mitten has the heavyweight warmth that frigid days at the ski resort or in the alpine call for. Hestra designed this mitt to fit over gloves with ease, but its Primaloft insulation is sure to warm your digits without the help of your usual gloves. The weather-resistant ripstop shell sheds snow to keep your hand comfortably dry, and sheepskin reinforcements ensure long-lasting durability. The Moon Mitten compresses to nearly nothing for compact storage in backpacks.

    Ridiculously warm

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have been wearing these mittens hiking in the 5 degree northeast weather for an hour and half to two hours at a time and yet my hands are still incredibly warm. I almost think I wouldn't be able to wear them above 32 degrees. I wear the Heli mittens for skiing and these are just as warm.

    Not warm for Hestra

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I ski with the most expensive Hestra mittens which I can find because I have poor circulation in my fingers and they are the warmest ski mitten I have used. So I thought I would try a more casual mitten to wear when I'm not skiing and I am disappointed in this one. It is soft and cozy but not at all warm. I need hand warmers inside when I wear these gloves even in temperatures between 32 and 45 degrees.

    Warmest Mitten YET!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Living in a consistent snow globe has made all the right gear an essential part of surviving the winter with Raynaud's. These mittens are soft on both the outside and inside. While I doubted their ability to withstand large amounts of precipitation (rain and snow), they remained 100% dry on the inside keeping my hands toasty warm. I may not look super fashionable with my large mittens, but there's no doubt I've had anything better.
