    Extreme protection.

Hestra's Army Leather Extreme Mitten is your hand's best defense against winter's weather. Flextron softshell gives this mitten waterproof breathable protection as well as a 4-way stretch for ultimate dexterity. Fiberfill insulation ensures warmth throughout winter, and the smooth Bemberg lining gives a super soft feel. Hestra added leather at the palm for a good grip, and the wrist cinch works with the gauntlet drawcord to secure the fit.

    Not sure

The comments previously left here say these are gore-tex but they are not. Hestra says they are water resistant, which if its really cold is probably ok. I have the XCR mitt and really like knowing there is a waterproof barrier between me and the outside. Based on my heli gloves the leather palm needs to be treated pretty much every season to keep it from soaking in, which isn't a problem on the XCR models, so I am not sure I am keeping these. They are slightly more insulated than the heli model, and have some insulation on the back of the hand built into the shell (the newest model year the liner comes out). I am sure they are warmer than my XCR mitt, but I am not sure I trust them on the east coast and might just use a thick liner in my XCR mitt.

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

these are the bad boys reserved for those deep cold smoke days , boarder line to hot on your average day but thats whats nice about them . With the gore tex membrane thrown into the equation these are some gloves that are ready for the worst conditions to keep your fingy wingys warm
