From blizzards to bluebirds.
It’s easy to make excuses not to go skiing—it’s too cold, it’s too windy, the visibility sucks, the snow is too wet. But in Helly Hansen Women’s Kvitegga Shell Jacket, all of those excuses are void. No matter the weather, snow conditions, or how badly you want to whine about something, the Kvitegga is a key that opens the door to solo runs in a normally packed resort, getting first, second, and third tracks on the backcountry’s boldest lines, and viral-worthy footage of your best park laps.
The Helly Tech Professional fully waterproof shell bestows complete confidence in the face of the toughest winter elements. Complete with unbeatable breathability and underarm vents, you’re free to work up a sweat bootpacking up the mountain’s summit without worrying about freezing over at the bottom. When you’re waist deep in the good stuff, keep the snow from sneaking up your sleeves with the wrist gaiters and adjustable cuffs. The jacket’s high visibility detailing will help your friends keep track of you when the snow is blowing sideways.
But the best part of the Kvitegga has to be its versatility over the course of the season. Once spring has sprung, zip off the powder skirt for better circulation and use the two-way zipper to bring in a fresh breeze. And when you take an unavoidable tumble through the slush, reach for the goggle shammy inside the zippered chest pocket to wipe your eyes dry.

Just received this jacket today and disappointed with Helly Hansen is an understatement. For $375 I was expecting a lot more out of this jacket. It is very thin, the vents have no mesh, and will have to wear many layers beneath it if I do decide to keep it and wear it skiing. The "life pocket" is also very thin and doubt it will protect any electronic from the cold. This is more of a rain jacket than a durable ski shell. There are plenty of other companies that make a much better ski coat at half the price, I will stick with my $150 Oakley ski jacket.
