The Grivel Air Tech Light Ice Axe is built for the days when every gram matters

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"The Grivel Air Tech Light Ice Axe has become my go-to for ski mountaineering objectives where I need an axe on my pack more than in my hand but still want something I can trust completely when conditions demand it. The weight savings over a standard axe are real and noticeable on long skinning approaches, and the one-piece forged steel head places with the same confidence you get from a much heavier tool."

Ski mountaineering and long alpine approaches share a common calculus: every gram you carry uphill costs you something on the way to the objective, and the tools that earn their place on those routes are the ones that deliver full performance without the weight penalty. The Grivel Air Tech Light Ice Axe was designed around that equation, built light enough to disappear on a ski tour or glacier walk and reliable enough to perform without hesitation when the terrain calls for it.

The one-piece forged steel head provides secure, balanced placement across snow and ice, and the fixed blade with adze configuration covers both self-arrest and step-cutting duties without compromise. The G-bone aluminum shaft uses a grooved construction that increases structural integrity while reducing material, delivering the rigidity and strength of a traditional shaft at a fraction of the weight. Available in standard configuration or with G-Slider for leash-compatible setups, and in four lengths from 48 to 66 centimeters, the Air Tech Light fits the full range of alpine objectives and body types without asking for a weight or performance trade-off that would send you looking elsewhere.
