Shelter from the wind storm.
If all you've got to ride are the wide open plains of Wyoming, or coastlines in the icy Northeast you know the true pain of brutal wind. Don't let barreling gusts and gale-force-winds deter you from getting out when the weather is less than perfect, embrace the inclement weather with the Gore Bike Wear Element Lady Windstopper Softshell Jacket. Soft shell construction builds a core-warming base, and is coated with Gore's Windstopper membrane to wick away perspiration, shed water, and slice through wind with ease. Fully sealed seams prevent water from making its way in through the cracks to dampen your jersey and base layers, so you can stay dry. Speaking of keeping dry, the inner lining pulls moisture away from your skin allowing an escape for internal moisture to evaporate, keeping water out and heat in.
The lining of the jacket is soft and fleecy against your skin, increasing warmth and insulation without bulk, and offers a slightly more relaxed fit allows for layering underneath for chilly spring outings, and riding through late fall afternoons and evenings. A close collar keeps chilly air from making its way inside, as do thumbholes that wrap snugly around your wrist to seal the glove-to-jacket gap, preventing wet and cold wrists, and a cinch-able hemline to secure the bottom, preventing gusts from making their way to your midsection. Reflective accents adorn the back and sleeves to enhance your visibility to motorists in low light situations, and secure-zip pockets give you the right spot to stash your essentials, keeping them dry and easy to access on the go.

- Q & A
Love the Gore Bike wear Windstopper
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I ordered this jacket in a large based on the reviews. It fits perfectly over a few winter layers. I typically wear a size medium in most things. I use this jacket for fat tire riding in the winters of the northland. I was able to wear this with a thermal base, a long sleeve, a wool layer and this jacket and ride for an hour in -10' F weather. I was just fine. I also road on a 30' F day with the thermal and wool layer and this jacket. I was actually a bit too warm. I have tried lots of other configurations to keep "just right" in the cold temperatures and this jacket does the trick. So glad I bought it. Love the deep blue and the pop of pink!
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I normally take a size small in all cycling clothing, but I ordered this in a medium after having read several reviews by others who say Gore sizes run small. That is very true, and the regular medium size fits me perfectly, especially if one plans to layer underneath. The black ibex is actually a very dark blue. The pink raspberry highlights are very pretty. It's a warm but light jacket. It smells a little like oil/rubber out of the package, but I think that will dissipate after washing. I highly recommend this jacket, especially at backcountry prices.
