    Classy package.

On or off the bike, the Giro Merino Wool Cap is a cyclist’s staple. The wool cap insulates to keep your head warm, but the X-Static liner breathes well and wicks moisture away from your skin. It’s substantial enough to wear alone off the bike, and thin enough to wear under your helmet for a little extra warmth. Merino also fights odor, so it won’t stink, even after sweaty rides. Giro also added ear flaps that fold up or down for added protection and a short, reinforced brim to keep rain and sun out of your eyes.

    Decent winter hat

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The hat is well-constructed and made from quality materials. It does a good job of keeping one's head warm in cold conditions. However, I found the stitching along the top to be too annoying, as it dug in when worn with a bike helmet. Similar hats, such as the Ibex Bicicleta (RIP) and 45NRTH Greazy, are designed to avoid this problem.

    Not impressed

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Build quality seems pretty good and the material is nice. With that being said I was generally unimpressed with the fit (proper size) especially how far or rather the lack of how far the ear flap comes down over my ears. My ears are sensitive to cold blowing winds and the ear flap stopped at the top of my ear canal, rendering it pretty much useless for my needs. I also felt it was pretty snug but the fabric between the layers did not lay well. Too bad as there does not seem to be many options in this category. Returned for other options.

    Winter staple

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

In the past I've ran a merino beanie over a standard cycling cap and I was looking to replace that 'system' with something better. The Giro cap fit the bill (no puns). Everything about this cap is top notch from the fit to the material quality. I'm looking forward to using this cap over the coming winter.

    Great Cycling Cap

    • Fit: True to size

This cap is good, but went with the Ibex Bicicleta Cycling Cap, which has a better fit, at least on MY cabeza.

    Unanswered Question

Does this hat cover the entire ear or does it leave the bottom of the ear exposed?

    Unanswered Question

How do you know what size to get? I wear a 7 1/8 - 7 1/4 in New Era fitted hats, if that helps for any bit of reference.
    Thanks
