    Go toe-to-toe with rugged terrain.

Your leopard-print tights might be awesome, but they don't really have the chops for technical trekking and mountaineering. Fjallraven's Keb Men's Trouser, on the other hand, is made of stretchy synthetic fabric and reinforced with G-1000 Eco panels for serious freedom of movement and durability. The knees are articulated and have extra-song seams so you don't blow them out, and zippered vents and an extended fly help keep you cool if the going gets hot. Fjallraven also included adjustable cuffs with boot hooks to keep grass, dirt, and snow from sneaking down into your socks, and threw in front cargo pockets and hand pockets to keeps maps, snacks, and gear handy so you don't have to stop and unload when you have serious ground to cover.

    • Durable hiking pants designed with rugged terrain in mind
    • Synthetic stretch fabric with reinforced G-1000 Eco panels
    • Articulated knees with extra-strong seams for mobility
    • Zippered side vents extend from hip to calf for quick ventilation
    • Cuffs with buckle-strap adjustment and boot hooks
    • Cargo pockets and hand pockets secure a knife and map

    Super comfortable, while resilient

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The mix of stretch panels with abrasion resistant panelling is what makes these pants awesome. They are on the pricey side, but It's hard to find other pants that have this level of functionality, fit and resilience. I have two pairs and use them for backpacking and mountaineering. I love that I can sit, climb, kneel, do whatever without worry about tearing a hole in "light" hiking pants, while still have the lightness and articulation of stretchy hiking pants.

The stretch panels do a nice job of adding breathability to the pants, which is great on high intensity mountaineering. I did notice that they stretch out a bit after wearing them a few times, but it's not a concern for me.

The pockets on the front are very functional. I often keep chocolate or energy chews in them as I climb. The vents are awesome as well, you can quickly unzip them to let some air in when you start heating up. They do not have any mesh, but who cares. Mesh would just add unnecessary fabric and thickness. They vents are like 5 inches long, so you don't show much skin.

The bottom of the pants have a really nice adjustable internal, stretchy strap, and a shoelace hook, so you get a really nice, dynamic gaiter effect from the pants themselves. Really nice. With some greenland wax, you can go without gaiters on less extreme adventures.

Overall, they are my favorite pants I own. Very practical and useful for many applications.

    Initial Impressions: Nice Pants

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 48 / 32"
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 184lbs

I'm 5'10", 184 lbs, have a 34.5" waist measurement and 40.5" hips/seat measurement (while wearing a pair of lightly insulated spandex-type tight). My inseam measures about 30.5" I selected "True to Size," but feel the need to qualify that statement.

Backcountry's size chart tells me that I should wear a EU50/US33-34". Using the sizing tool on the US Fjallraven website, it told me I should wear a 48/32". I typically wear a 32-33" waist (and 32" length with some stack or a 1.5" cuff at the bottom) in most jeans, but frequently have an issue with jeans being gappy at the waist and/or too tight in the butt/hips.

The EU48 / US32" version of the Keb pant fit me best with a note that they are a tad bit tight right at the entry of the hand pockets. The 33-34" was way too loose at the waist though. The length on the 32" is about the same as most 32" length jeans...so about right for my preference.

I also purchased the size 48 and 50 Vidda Pro trousers to try, as well. I noted that sizing is inconsistent between the Keb and Vidda Pro. The 48/32" in the Vidda Pro was too tight in the waist AND hips. The 50/33-34" size was too loose. I didn't keep either of the Vidda Pro, though they are a nice pant.

The last review point I'd like to make is regarding two design features on the Keb: the vents and the cuffs. Vents: I like this feature, but kind of wish that Fjallraven would include a mesh type fabric inside the vent like in the Lundhags pants I tried. Seems that it would be good to keep debris and bugs out...but having not used this feature yet, maybe it's irrelevant. Cuffs: Out of three different brands of pants and four different cuff systems, I think Fjallraven has the best, most durable system in the Keb and Vidda Pro trousers.

    Pants of all Pants

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: US33 EU50
    • Height: 6'1"
    • Weight: 201lbs

The pants are a Euro fit and so they are a little bit of a slim tighter fit as those Europeans like it stylin. Size up if you want a looser fit. the pockets on the thighs are super handy and easy to access when sitting down in a camp chair or car. If your into bush craft and want a solid pair of pants these are for you.

    Possibly the Best Pants.

I love these pants. They stretch in all the right places, yet are durable in all the right places too. I have put them to the test numerous times and have not ever had any issues with them. Even when it was 80 degrees up in the Tetons, I still had these pants as my go to's. They have a side vent zippers, which is not often found on pants like this, so that makes thee an easy pick on just about any adventure. I would that they are almost perfect, but there is still one cautionary about them and one tweak I would like to see. The thing to be aware of is that having the synthetic stretch in the back, always makes me feel as though my pants are slipping down and the moon is about to come out. After a couple of days of wearing them, I got used to this knowing that they are still right where I need them to be, for everyone else's sake. The one tweak I would like to see on these is a back pocket. The front cargo pockets are great and allow for plenty of pocket space, but I just like storing things in my back pockets (gloves, keys, etc).

The fit on Fjallraven can be a bit tricky, and I did find that these seemed to have stretched out after a couple wears, but nothing too much to need a size down at all. Feel free to reach directly out to me with any questions on these pants or anything else on the site!

These pants are amazing! I have the convertible pair, but will definitely be picking up a pair of the traditional ones real soon. Great fit with the stretch around the waist were you need it and with the G-1000 on the knees and high impact areas they are super durable. The more pieces I get from Fjallraven the more impressed I get with everything I have and the brand as a whole. Super great company, strong ethics and great products!

Fjallraven is a great company and they make some outstanding garments. This pant is very burly and stretchy, which is a rare find. My buddies and I were hiking off trail, sliding down mountains covered in snow, rock, trees, and shrubs. Not only did these hold up without even looking like I'd been wearing them, but they also kept me completely dry when I would occasionally slip and slide about 20 meters down the mountain on snow! I usually hate carrying things in my pockets but these are placed so well that I didn't even mind carrying my compass, wallet, phone, huge map, and large Kershaw pocket knife. On the return trip where we had to climb about 2,000 feet through all the previously mentioned obstacles, I was very thankful for the large vents on the upper and lower part of the pants. I would encourage anyone who is looking for a hunting pant, shed hunting or scouting. These are great for anything off the trail and plenty comfortable enough for everyday trekking. Please if you have any questions about these pants contact me.

    Delicate

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large

Used in hiking trip, it is tattered.
If it was strong, it was a good one.
Size was not proportional between legs and waist.
Quality of fake. Bad serie and they sell.

    Alaska: Comfortable and durable.

I use these pants for work and for outdoor activities. I work in Alaska and am out in the elements for every season.

I like to hike, hunt, fish, camp and snow shoe. So far these seem to be the ones that will fit the bill for all of it.

I'm very impressed with the agility in these pants. The function and fashion are on par with each other in my opinion.

I've taken them snowshoeing up the mountain and they worked better than I ever could have thought. Most pants are restrictive and inhibitive of movement as you perspire but these aren't.

Get the wax and apply it as soon as you get it. I'm using these in the middle of winter so my usage is limited to the wet, wind and freezing temps right now. They have held up perfectly.

The cell phone holster in the right thigh cargo pocket is very convenient.
The shoe lace "clip" on the end of the pant cuff so that the pant doesn't ride up over your boots, is great.
There are small loops attached to your two belt loops above your hip pockets, sized perfectly for carabiners to snap into. I use them for my wallet and keys.

There are no pockets on the back of the pant but easily replaced by the large cargo pockets on the front.

There are two vents per leg. One on the thigh and another on the calf. They work great. Zippers are high quality.

I'm planning on getting more of these pants in the future.

They do stretch with use. At first, when you get them, they are fitting as shown. So true out of the package, but run large with use.

    Amazing pants

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

The material alone is amazing. Super breathable and stretchy. The construction is amazing as well, these pants are meant to last. These pants have a ton of amazing features that really rock and I would recomend these to anyone.

    Not for everybody

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 48
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 175lbs

I like these pants but I don't love these pants like I do my Viddas. Granted these are more for climbing/alpining whereas the Viddas are an all around hike/work pant. The material is super comfortable and the pockets nicely oversized so you've got room to work with and layer up if you have to. I snagged the legging material a couple of times but overall no issue. What did disappoint me however was that after only a couple of days of use one of the two buttons went MIA. Aside from that you've got vented sides and loops to store your gear and some fairly sharp looking pants.

Best Pants I have ever owned

I work as a geologist so am constantly outside. I have taken these pants everywhere and almost nothing can destroy them.I am an avid climber, hiker, and mountaineer when I'm not at work. They are expensive but well worth the price if you can afford it! Easily the best pants I have ever owned!

    The only pants I need

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I was looking for a pant for trips where there is only room to bring ONE pair. Weather it was a weekend or a 2 week backpacking trip. These instantly became my favorite pants for climbing and backpacking. Expensive... yes, but totally worth the money in my opinion. They fit true to size, and are a great blend of comfort, mobility and durability. The articulated knee is a great feature that adds to the great fit. I was skeptical that the vents would be a bit of a gimmick. I am happy to say after a spring backpacking trip in Capitol Reef, UT, they do actually work. Very happy and would recommend!

    Best Pants Ever? Maybe

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: EU 48
    • Height: 5'7"
    • Weight: 165lbs

These are comfortable, protective, vented, great cut, and functional. They do NOT have rear pockets, but it is a non-issue for me. You'll probably see me wearing these around town in the colder months.
The material is tough, flexible, and stench resistant. What more could you want?
I will probably by a Keb coat to match.
High price and high quality. It was difficult to get over the price, but I would buy them again after wearing them.
I wear a 32 in almost all pants, purchased these in the EU 48/reg. Waist was about right, length was too long. $9 at the local dry cleaner to have them hemmed (with the straps/buckles).

    Won't work for me

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 52 Long
    • Height: 6'4"
    • Weight: 230lbs

The deal breaker for me was the seam across the top of the cargo pocket, it digs into my thigh with long strides or stepping up. I have a problem with finding pants that fit, if the waist is good the thighs are too tight, if it fits good in the thighs and butt the waist is too big. The waist felt good (36") not too sure about the cotton blend either. Next pair I order will be fully synthetic. Went with Haglofs rugged II mountain pant, very pleased.

Hey, I'm 6'4' around 230 lbs, normally where 34x36 pants. Got a pair of Haglofs rugged II for Christmas but they were L-Reg and I'm having trouble tracking own a L-Long...is that what you got and where did you find them?

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 52 Long
    • Height: 6'6"
    • Weight: 235lbs

Just got these pants in the mail. WOW do they fit perfect. I am 6' 6" and 235 lbs. It was like they were made for me. Finding product that fits my waist 36" and my inseam 36" is a very tall order. Pun completely intended. Normally I have to order product that is XXL and hope that the length works and I am not swiming in the rest. Fjallraven made a great fitting, tough product that I know will be a success. Now I just need to get them outside.

Rugged Pants with Lots of Extras

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 54
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 190lbs

IMPORTANT! Go to the Fjallraven website and verify your pants size! The size guide listed on Backcountry's website for the Fjallraven product line is a little bit off. I had to exchange my pants because they were one size too large. The Fjallraven site has the correct size chart. As for the pants themselves, they are great for more rugged activities such as rock scrambling. For casual hiking they would be overkill. Great pocket designs and two zippered ventiliation slits on each pant leg make these pants stand out. The material is a bit too firm to my liking but I am hoping they will soften up a bit with a few more washings.

    Best Hiking pants!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

This is a great blend of a breathable trekking pant, that also affords the front of your legs TONS of protection when cruising through brush, trees, bushes, etc.... Highly recommended... and if you are going on a wet conditions hike, wax the front for even greater weather protection!

    Very Nice!

    • Fit: True to size

Just received these pants and thought I'd share some quick thoughts. They are very well made- almost intricate. When you turn the leg inside out, you can see how well they are designed and executed. They stretch around the belly and front pocket area and are tough where they need to be. Bought the Greenland Wax but they came repelling water well. Maybe I'll use the wax after several washings. Real comfortable to wear! I got the black which means I wear them socially as well; don't look too clown like.

Also, the adjustable hem to tighten leg openings is well thought out.

Value? Well, I bought them here on Backcountry on sale and saved $60 which allowed me to buy the Keb shirt!

Thanks Backcountry and Fjallraven! I'm real happy with these!

    Epic pants

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

For cooler Temps i prefer a good comfortable soft shell while hiking/snow shoeing. but have bean also looking for a more weather resistant pant that still had the same range of motion. stumbled across these and they are the best combination between a hard shell and soft shell design. not only do these have a flexible soft shell type material behind the knees, crotch, and lower back but also a perfect form to the knee that makes them feel tailor fit. Another feature i was looking for was good ventilation, the 4 side vents really allow you to dump the excess heat when needed. this will be the first full winter with these in the mountains and will update with further thoughts if they come up.. if your hesitant. get them they are well worth the money.
