Let Me Tell You About This Jacket..

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: Large
  • Height: 6'2"
  • Weight: 210lbs

One of the best jackets ive had the pleasure of owning and wearing. A lot of people talk about the cost of Filson jackets, but they are worth every penny. This jacket is durable, looks great, and keeps the wind and cold out. Im 6'2 and my weight fluctuates between 200-220 ( I tend to drink a little more beer in the winter time ha), it fits through all seasons. I obviously dont wear it so much in the summer, but you can with a t shirt. I like to wear a long sleeve or sweatshirt underneath it. Has a lot of pockets and such, fits right at my waist, and looks great zipped up. It does run a tad bit large, but i think its more of the cut of the jacket though. You need to figure out how you like to wear Filson jackets. Sure, i could wear the medium, but i like the fit of the large. If you usually wear a XL, order a XL and L and try them both on. Return the one that doesnt fit. This will save you the headache of waiting for the right size to come.

Nice but odd shape

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: Large
  • Height: 5'10"
  • Weight: 190lbs

I am 5'10 about 190lb, wear a 42 jacket and the large fits me in the shoulders, sleeves a tiny bit long (wear a 34/35 in dress shirt length. My biggest problem is the waist is wider than the shoulders so the jacket sticks out in the back. No one will tailor it. If you want a slimmer fit size down but beware the shoulders may not fit.

Journeyman jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Large
  • Height: 6'1"
  • Weight: 205lbs

First off the sizing runs a bit small on this jacket. I am 6'1" 205 lbs and I would be an XL in this jacket. I'm generally in between L and XL in most jackets. I ended up going with the Filson Tin Jacket in L. I also tried the the Westlake which fit in L. I ended up returning the journeyman because it was too hot. I'm in NC and I would only be able to wear it a couple of months per year. This jacket has more of a dry wax coating like a Barbour rather than the wet oil coating of many Filsons. I liked the jacket and would have kept if I needed a warmer coat.
