Light for backpacking, warm for winter.

Exped claims its Synmat Winterlite Sleeping Pad is the lightest four-season mat out there for ultralight winter backpackers. Microfiber insulation placed at the bottom and top ensures warmth in a winter bivy, and the single FlatValve inflates and deflates the pad with ease. I-beam construction gives the Synmat Winterlite a tapered profile to minimize weight as much as possible.

    Keeps You Warm

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I decided to pick up the Exped Synmat Winterlite as my backpacking pad, because sadly, my Exped Megamat is far too big to carry long distances. The regular "M" version Synmat is narrower than I had expected, but the large side baffles do a great job at keeping me in place on the pad. Not once did I begin to slide off the pad overnight. The insulation also did a great job at keeping my underside warm in the upper 30's with my 30 degree summer bag. It's very lightweight and packs surprisingly small for an insulated sleeping pad. It makes a great alternative to my Megamat when I'm going light, or when tent space is limited.

    Exceeded my expectations

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I purchased this because I'm older now (65) and wanted something more comfortable for my old bones. This works like a charm. Used the Schnozzle to fill it up (excellent product) and then adjusted for comfort while actually laying on it. Easy to open the valve using one hand and allow some air out to adjust comfort level and then replace valve one handed as well. That's impressive. The fabric was thinner than what I was used to (Therma Rest self inflating) but it held up well on my first usage (5 day trip). Well thought out design, extremely light weight when you consider the comfort level and temp range. Excellent product.

    Best night's sleep

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

So far, I am really impressed with my new Synmat Winterlite Sleeping Pad. The material and thickness of the pad kept me cozy and comfortable all night. It is small when rolled up and weighs next to nothing making it perfect for my bike camping trips. I like to sprawl out at night and this is spacious enouh to do so.

The FlatValve closure is the only concern I have. It looks cheaply made and I worry that it could warp and leak air over time.

Best night's sleep in the woods!

Could someone please tell me whether this item is the new model? The product name is changed to the new one, yet spec appears not, like the R-value of the upgraded one shall equal 4.9, not as listed...
