These definitely run small, as you'll see from other reviews. I'm a lady climber, and I was tight on cash but needed a good shoe. Such a small size in a men's shoe were on sale, which was awesome. I paid attention, bought the size that would fit my feet, and am so pleased with them. I use these for both indoor and outdoor climbing multiple times a week. Slightly aggressive yet so comfortable.

logged enough hours indoors and outdoors with these shoes to say: 1) size up for these shoes. 40 scarpa vapors fit perfectly for me, but i wish i had gotten a 41.5 or 42 in the geshidos, 2) the shoes do not expand much, if at all. 3) comfy, yet aggressive enough.. i switch to more downturned shoes on particularly demanding climbs

for the price, i'm happy with the purchase

    Rubber wear and tear

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Great fit and lived the grip of the rubber which makes me more bummed that both shoes rubber have worn and now have holes in the toes after only two months of climbing. Never had a shoe wear out this fast. Had a great time while they lasted though.

    Awesome shoes

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

These shoes are great and I am really bummed they do not make them any more. Definitely going to get mine resoled. I don't climb ridiculous over hang roofs on the reg so I got these after having the shamans. This are still perfectly fine for the steeps but some people may complain? I got my street shoe size and they fit great now. Was a little tight at first but I think sizing up 1 to 1.5 sizes as some people said is ridiculous. They are leather and will stretch some.

i dont't know what you did to them but i've had mine for a year and climb every other day at least, about to get another pair great gym shoe. The only thing wrong with them after a year is that the rubber is a little less sticky and less edged and they stink lol

Agreed - Size 8 mens fits size 8 womens

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

So far these are great shoes - sturdy and form fitting. I took the tip that suggested a size 8 mens is actually more like a size 8 womens. These are even slightly tight on me.

    White and Purple Toes

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

One star because size 9 did not fit me. I even when I when up a half size from my normal shoe size but still no luck. My toes were in a LOT of pain from just walking around in them. I feel a 1 to 1.5 size jump would be appropriate.

However, they are working out great for my girlfriend who wears a size women's size 7 ish? Only climbed on them once but she did a fair amount of walking in them with no pain. (She is quick to let me know when if she does not like something)

Looks like I really lucked out because I do not have a lot of money and rushed to buy these while on sale. Like I said we have not put much wall time on them but I am sure they are going to work out great. I just do like the goofy sizing going on.

    Weird sizing/great performance

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

So i'm onto my second pair of these trying to dial the fit in. I first got these in my street shoe size and they were extremely tight. could only stand to be in them for one route. after a few days of climbing I can keep them on for 2-3 routes max. I ordered the half size up and they are big enough they could be my next all day trad shoe if they stretch at all. seems to be a huge leap in volume for just a half size. Anway guess I have a new all day shoe now. If the smaller sizes stretches, the fit should be pretty good.

    climbing performance has been great!

    Great Climbing Shoe!

    • Fit: Runs small

I'm fairly new to indoor rock climbing and this is the first climbing shoe that I have ever purchased and I love them so far. They definitely run small though. I wear a US size 11 men's sneaker and a US size 11.5 men's running shoe. I sized up to a 12 in these and they fit almost perfectly. They did hurt quite a bit the first time I wore them but they either stretched out a bit or my feet got used to them because now they are great!

    Runs Extremely Small

Shoes work well but I wear a 8.5 or 9 street shoe and need a size 11 of these. The rep recommended size 9 but I couldn't even fit my foot in that size, then I tried 10.5 and just barely too small.

    Good Performer, Weak Rubber!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I loved the way these shoes performed on the rock. I bought these shoes 3 months ago and have been climbing on them 2, sometimes 3 times a week and the rubber has begun to tear on the toe area already. I have been cautious at placing my feet when i climb to reduce wear also.

    Awesome website. great shoes

Great shoes. had to return them cause i sized down, as i usually do for climbing shoes. backcountry was awesome with their costumer service. I'll be buying all my gear here from now on just because of the awesome service i got. :)

    Great shoe for thin face

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small

I got these shoes in size 12, which is the same as my running shoes, and they are so tight that I need to loosen them as soon as I've finished the route. I should have taken the advice of the Backcountry gear expert and bought a 12.5. But they are stretching out some with use. They stand on super thin holds, so much better than my other shoes that are comfortable and mostly used on slab and cracks. I really like the lacing design.

Great Shoe! I have a size 13 street shoe and I got the 13.5 and they fit perfect. They were a really tight at first but after I used them about 5 times the leather upper let the shoe conform to my foot for a perfect fit. Great for vertical and overhanging and my heel feels very secure which makes for nice heel hooking. I am probably going to get another pair of these with the velcro.

My review goes with using these shoes as a performance shoe, not an all day shoe. The Geshido Lace Up is one of the best all around shoes I've ever worn in over 20 years of climbing! Excelling on all types of climbing from super thin slab, gnarly cracks, steep faces, and overhangs. Laces allow for precision fit. I wear a size 10 street shoe. My Geshidos are size 9.5. I sized them to be more tight for performance. The first few days were a painful break in, but they are leather and once the stretched they fit like a glove! My pinkie toes hated me the most, but after break in everything is great. I can wear them for 30 min. or so before I want them off for a minute. YOU CANNOT simply compare to other Evolvs for sizing! I wear a pair of Pontas Lace ups as one of my looser fitting all day multi pitch shoes and they are size 9.5 too, but far more roomier. If your looking for a more loose fit it seems they still perform well according to other reviews. The "love bump" is cool, but after many great days climbing I managed to pretty much make it disappear in one shoe. Didn't even notice, still work awesome! The original rubber sticks well and last long (assuming you don't have horrible footwork). Mine have been resoled with C4 after tons of climbing (Rock & Resole doesn't do Trax) and they perform wonderfully. LOVE THIS SHOE!

    They run small

As other people have said, this shoe does run fairly small. I sized up a full size from my regular street shoe. However, I am not one of those climbers that prefers the smallest shoe you can fit your foot in. If you like them tighter, try a half size up.

Other than that, it's a very grippy and versatile climbing shoe.

    They run small

Size 8 men fits women size 8

I tried these on in a store and loved the fit, but they didn't have my size. Comfortable for an aggressive shoe. I'd say they run a size and a half small. I ordered the 8 and I am a womans 8. Shipping was so fast.

      They don't make my size!

Based on some of the reviews below, I tried to go with a 13.5, the largest size they have, but just couldn't make them work. They seem like nice shoes, just wish they made them in 14. It's tough to find good climbing shoes for us large-footed individuals. Sigh. If you are 14 or above in climbing shoe size, go with Tenaya. I have the Ra's and the Masai's, both are excellent.

        Great Shoe

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have had the lace ups for a year now. They held up great, from climbing indoor at least once a week and outdoor at the RRG, the NRG, and Yosemite. Dig the feel of shoe, I can wear them for hours with no pain, along with the performance on edges and heel hooking. The only downside is they got pretty stinky. I ended up washing them which helped.

        Big Foot

I wear a 11 street shoe and 11.5 in evolv climbing shoes ( I have 2 pair of evolv's) but I had to go with a 12 for the geshido lace up. Once I got the sizing worked out the shoe is great, five stars all the way. Good for everything from trad to sport to the gym. Just remember to size up a bit and you'll love 'em. And they are made in the USA!

I wear an 8.5 US Men's street shoe. What...
