    Versatility on the rocks.

The Edelrid Jay Harness features adjustable leg loops and moveable foam padding for a customizable fit that keeps you comfortable whether you're cruising up a multipitch or whipping on a single. Overlapping 3D mesh padding covers the upper edge for an excellent blend between breathability and support, and the leg loops have elastic mesh inserts for flexibility and a snug fit. One Easy Glider buckle at the waist and two at each leg loop offer a secure fit that aligns your tie-in point with ease. Edelrid also equipped the Jay with an abrasion protector at the tie-in for increased longevity and four asymmetric gear loops that quickly organize your rack of cams and draws.

    Handsome harness; a bit uncomfortable

This replaced another harness, which I discarded due to its age. This harness looks sharp, and it comes with a nice storage bag that fits perfectly in my climbing gear bag.

It's very easy to use, and fits correctly. The straps don't tangle or cross, for some reason. So I can just step into it and tighten the waist and leg buckles.
The one downside of this harness is getting things situated for the "middle." I did not have this issue with my other harness or with one I borrowed. It's caused by the fact the attachment point for each leg strap needs to be where the buckle is now. That is, the ears of the Y need to extend a couple of inches longer so the buckle is rotated outward on the thigh.

It's OK with the current design, but you have to fuss with it rather than just put it on. The room for accommodating male parts should be there automatically, as it has been for every other harness I have worn.

      Great Harness

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This harness is built well with the climber in mind. The leg loops and waist belt have ample padding for hanging in the harness while remaining low profile enough to maintain your agility. The reinforced hard points also ensure that this harness will have a nice long life. But my favorite feature by far is fully adjustable waist belt. Instead of stitching the waist belt into the nylon webbing the wasitbelt hangs free and can rotate the full length of the belt. This allows you to orient the belay loop and waist belt properly so that the belay loop is not being pulled in either direction and can sit straight and in the middle of your body. With this system there is very little discomfort hanging, falling or belay because everything is where it is supposed to be! All that and this harness is priced very reasonably. What's not to love? I am 6'2" 175lbs and wear a size 33" pant, in this harness i went with the medium.

      Really thick, slightly uncomfortable

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

To me a harness is a harness, but this one is very thick and a little bit uncomfortable in the brake position. The second tie in loop is also pretty small so its hard to run a couple slings through.

UPDATE: I'm coming from using a Singing Rock harness I bought in France for like 30 Euros (40 USD at the time). This harness is not flexible at all, and is so stiff it hurts to fall in. I wear a size medium and I am 5'7" 165lbs. I might not be able to have kids anymore. I understand the feeling of security some people might get from this harness, but all I get is a sense of impending doom. I even hate taking it out of my bag because it takes 5 minutes to untangle every time. Man, I have really hated this harness. 1 star because the harness functions, I haven't died yet.

Excellent for the gym or outdoors

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Got this harness a month ago and so far I've been very happy with it. It's comfortable, breathable, and has great adjustability. I'm a size 34in waist and the size M fits perfectly with room to adjust in either direction.

      Great harness!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Hard to believe a harness of this quality exists for this price!

The waistbelt is comfortable and adjusts easily, as do the leg loops.
The gearloops are fairly stiff too, despite not being made of plastic, and it's easy to unclip anything you're bringing along.

No doubt this harness will last a long time!

      Great harness!

      Great Harness

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love this harness. Out of the harnesses I have used this one is my favorite, and for a bonus it’s cheap. I like the fact that the whole belt strap is strung through the waist of the harness making it easily adjustable whereas most harnesses the belt strap is sewn to the waist part. You can get better positioning for the loops especially for strange routes where you need all your gear on one side or something like that (even though it is just a bit it and may seem insignificant I feel it makes a difference). The legs and waist are adjustable and as with the loops are easy to use. I wear size 32 pants and a medium fits perfect.

I also like the Petzel Sama but this one fits better around my legs (probably due to being adjustable) and just feels more comfortable hanging/falling. On a side note, I have only used this for single pitch sport climbs but can wear it all day no problem. Also, if possible, you should try on your harness before buying it because each one will fit each person differently! Great for beginners too!

      Great Harness

      Looks Great And Feels Comfortable!

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I can sit on this harness for extended periods of time and not really feel any discomfort. The gear loops are easy to clip on/off of and there is a great deal of adjustment in the waist and leg loops. I am a 32" in the waist and went with a medium. Very comfortable and sweet colors!

would this fit someone with a size 40 waist? Or should I look for something different?
