    Works Well

I bought this for an upcoming trip to South America, so I haven't had a chance to use it yet. But it looks like it will serve me well. It has enough compartments inside to keep different cards and currencies separate. It's lightweight and comfortable to wear, and it shouldn't create a bulge unless I were to carry my phone in it

      Money Belt

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

this is really helpful and very concealable when traveling. thin and small but large enough for some cash and passport. not too bulky. it would also work wonderful as a fanny pack. it can be used on a hiking trip too.

      serves its purpose

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I used this while traveling mostly in Ghana and Burkina Faso. It would be kind of awkward to use daily, as a place to keep the money you will be using that day, but is VERY good at fitting a passport, credit cards, and excess cash for longer trips. Used it on days where we had to keep our bags in bins under buses, or when the rooms we were staying in did not have trusty locks. Would recommend this to someone traveling in a place where pickpockets are common, or if you are carrying your passport and/or credit cards across long stretches of land (by bus, plane, car, etc.). Has held up nicely so far and I have not had a problem with the items inside getting sweaty or anything. The picture attached shows you how big it is (I never wore it on the outside of my clothes, but this was a "super-tourist-white-girl" picture I took at one of my many stops).

      serves its purpose

Will stop pick-pockets, maybe not mugger

This is a fine product, plenty of room, sits securely around your waist, and would make it extremely difficult for someone to swipe your stuff without you noticing. Where my qualms come in are when it comes to actually being "undercover."

As I said above, the wallet works great for keeping your stuff out of reach, but it's not very concealable unless you're wearing a jacket or something baggy and dark colored. I spend a lot of time traveling around 3rd world countries and sometimes I have quite a large sum of cash on my person as I'm leading groups of people around. We're already a target because we're usually the only white people around. I don't want throw another one on my back by inadvertently advertising to an assailant that I might have a large bit of money that I'm trying to hide from them. And seeing as most of the places I'm visiting are not the type where you're going to be needing a jacket, I found it hard to conceal this wallet when I tried it on at home.

Again, it's a fine product, and if you've got the ability to conceal it under baggy dark clothes or multiple layers then it will work fine. My problems are that it's hard to conceal when you don't meet the conditions above.

      Hi Dan,

Absolutely. The dimensions on this are 11.5 x 5" and a US passport is 3.5 x 5". It also never hurts to email a copy of your passport and id to yourself...just in case.

I don't want to go too far into it, but consider a leg wallet that's big enough to hold your passport like item # EAG0425. If you're getting robbed or shaken down, since lots of tourists/travelers wear money belts, good thieves know to check it out. Shove the money you need into your front pocket and keep the rest of the stuff you don't need so often somewhere where it's not the second place someone will demand to look. A few bills stuffed under the foot bed of your boot never hurt either in case it comes to eating and the universal language of bribing your way out of trouble.
