    Great Hiking & Boot Socks

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I never expected to spend more than $4 on a pair of boot or hiking socks, so when I read reviews until my eyes bled and bought the Darn Tough socks, it was a very intentional decision. After only two or three wears I can see what all the hype is about. I decided to test them out by wearing them with some boots that fit me somewhat awkwardly - they stopped all the hot spots/rubbing I was used to, and I walked all day without even noticing the size problem with the boots. I wore them soon after on a long hike with a new pair of trail shoes and had the same experience - total comfort, they dried easily and I never once had to adjust them.

I'll be buying many pairs in the future to wear with boots and on hikes. As someone that regularly goes through socks from wearing boots, I can confidently say these Darn Toughs will outlive me.

    i have 6 pairs

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are long lasting, stink hiding socks. I wear them backpacking, hiking, winter exploring and day to day with boots. Just get a pair already, why don'tcha?

    My Favorite Hiking Socks

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I wear these socks all the time while hiking or under my wader bootys while fishing. They have a nice cushion, dont bunch up over the day, wick moisture, and help combat foot stink. What more can you ask for?

Thicker and More Durable but Comfy

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Darn Tough sometimes feel like they have some tough sledding in the sock industry with other options being bigger names but I do find that some of their socks do really well from a comfort/performance ratio. Their Merino Wool Cushion Boot Sock is no different as that is exactly what it is made for as the sock feels way more top to bottom efficient from a durability and comfort standpoint when most other socks don't put as much into the tall part. The merino blend is a bit more durable than super soft but still remains comfy and the sizing is pretty much spot on.

    Your Feet Deserve These

After several years of buying all heaps of different brands wool sock options, I wanted to give Darn Toughs a go. First off, I couldn't believe that these socks are guaranteed for life and they challenge you to try and wear them out, is just plain awesome! These have quickly become my go to socks for hiking, fishing, and living and I will continue to save my pennies to buy more pairs!

Perfect padding in just the right spots and the peace of mind that you won't blow through your investment, like i have with every other pair of Merino socks that I have bought from other companies.

    Favorite socks ever

I want my socks to only consist of these. I would only need a couple pairs because they are so durable and stay fresh. I ran a 15k in these and wore them for the next three days leisurely, and they still didn't smell. Must be the wool. Comfortable. I like the how high they come up my leg. I only own crew socks but most come up too high, like halfway up my shin if pulled up fully. These come up just above my ankle, just how I would prefer, which I have not found in any other sock.

    Better than Smartwool?

    • Size Bought: Medium (10)

I have been a Smartwool fan for decades and have heard the stories about Darn Tough and the quality of sock they make. So, I took the bait and picked up a few pairs for a trip I had coming up in Colorado. So far, initial impression is great. Super comfortable, lightweight for a midweight sock, perfect for most conditions. Looking forward to putting them through the wringer this summer.

Pretty ideal lighter hiking boot sock

(This review was provided to me after gifting these socks to a friend) Killer sock, all around. Darn Tough makes great socks, and this is one of them. Their version of regular cushioning is more like a light cushion from a big box or hunting store, but it's a great weight for hiking and working outside in all but hot weather. I'd probably pick something warmer for standing around or other slow-moving activities in really cold temps.

The best all-around socks I've ever had

Like everyone reading this, I've had a lot of socks in my day and the Darn Tough Merino Cushion Boot Sock is the best I've ever had. They are a perfect mid-weight thickness for me - not too thin and not too thick - something I can really wear everyday. The boot cut is great - it comes up about 3-4 inches above my ankle bone, so they work great with hiking boots but aren't too high to wear everyday. They have remained soft and show only minimal signs of wear over the last 12 months. I now have 4 pairs of these socks and highly recommend them. I wear a size 12 shoe and like the way Large fits me.

    Get Them Love Them

Not much to say but they are very comfortable and they will last for many years to come. I wear winter socks a lot through the winter and the heel in other socks always give out before Darn Tough.

Bought a pair of these for my stepdad in an effort to convince him of the major difference between wearing cheap socks and wearing these moisture-wicking babies. He hunts and works as a carpenter, and these socks have exceeded his expectations. Now he always tries to figure out how he can goad me into getting him more! They're super odor resistant and way comfy. If you want a warm weather version, check out the Coolmax style.

I hate spending money on socks and having to purchase new pairs frequently just sucks. The high stitch count on Darn Tough's socks are designed to last long, help with support, breathe well and provide fantastic comfort. These socks are the socks you want whether you are going on a long treck, or a short hike. Heck, even sitting around at home! Don't believe me? Try a pair, you won't regret it! I'm a size 11.5 and I wear Large. -These socks also don't peel like most merino wool socks do!

I have been wearing and abusing these socks for years. They don't wear out. I have started walking around in the driveway to try to wear them out so I can buy more. They are super comfortable and wear well. I'm an 11.0 and the large fits great.

They stay up all day, they're cushioned adequately in the correct places, they breathe excellent, they're lightweight, and there are no seams to give me hotspots. The quick and dirty of it is: these are an all around wonderfully designed sock. They fit true and I love wearing them during activity or even just lounging around my my in-law's cabin!

Merino Wool, I absolutely swear by it. I am currently in the process of replacing all of my cotton socks with merino wool socks and these are some of the best I have found. I wear a size 11.5 boot and bought these in size large. They fit great and don't have the tendency to ride down and bunch up after wearing all day. I wear them hiking, fishing, and to work. Great all around sock.
ps. They are naturally anti microbial and don't stink even after wearing a couple days.

I wear 9-9.5 (UK)shoes. Will medium be better or should i stick with large?I am think about 4-5 months in,they would start to loosen a bit,or thats not the case? Some Smartwool hikers i have have became a little too loose for my liking (large size).I dont mind tight after all i am kinda skinny(150 lbs).

    Hey Quake_gl

If you are ok with super tight socks then the Mediums would be a good choice however the size larges should do the trick. The compression band in both the mid and heel of the sock should help keep it's shape and prevent them from stretching out. I have a pair of these and they always become tight again after washing and I've had them for about 6 months now. I hope that this helps answer you questions and please let us know if you have any more.

    Thanks
