With a long history of making burly, American-made boots, Danner has become synonymous with quality, and the Light Boots are no exception to this tradition. Their full-grain leather uppers with 1000-denier nylon side panels are tough enough to handle rugged trails in the Pacific Northwest, but still looks great when you're hoofing it downtown for an evening with friends. Danner's Dri-Lex lining keeps your feet dry and comfortable when the temperatures climb, while the Airthotic footbed offers a surprising amount of comfort for a boot with this rugged of a build. A fiberglass shank give the boots a rigid and supportive feel in steep terrain, while the Vibram sole delivers exceptional durability.

- Q & A
Savvy and Stylish
I am so happy with my purchase decision on these boots. Iâve put off purchasing a pair of hiking boots for years because most of them are pretty ugly. I get so many compliments on how these boots look! They go great with jeans of course, but Iâve also worn them with shorts and even skirts. The leather is high quality and breaks into a really handsome and rugged, distressed look. The nylon sides are durable and water resistant. Iâve worn them with wool socks in the snow and have been plenty warm. Iâve worn them in warmer weather and they were fine. Iâve read reviews that say theyâre heavy, and this is true, but I donât find the weight to be uncomfortable or restrictive. They need a little breaking in (as with any shoe or boot with this type of heavy construction), but once theyâre broken in, theyâre comfortable and supportive. To keep from getting blisters, I bought a roll of adhesive-backed moleskin to stick to my feet (you put it on you, not on the shoe), but I actually only needed the moleskin once. These are a favorite! Iâll even wear them when Iâm not hiking!
Great boot on and off the trail
Honestly, I bought these as an around town boot, thinking they were too fashionable for the trail. But I'm really surprised at how much I love them for hiking as well! Normally I like a lighter boot for hiking (don't let the word 'light' in the name of this boot fool you... these things are solid!) but the fit and support of these boots is amazing. I have trouble finding boots that work on my narrow-ish, long feet with high instep, but these are perfect. I normally take a 10 or 10.5 in shoes, but had to size down to a 9.5 in these and still have more than enough room for the toes. I'm now considering getting a second pair to wear around town, and use these boots for the trail!
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: 7.5
- Height: 5'3"
- Weight: 145lbs
Expectedly, this boot takes a little while to break in, but once you do, they're comfortable and durable on and off the trail. They're fairly heavy so if you're looking for something lightweight, this is not a good option. This boot is stylish enough to wear around town, too which is a nice option for a lot of people. I get a ton of compliments from both men and women who appreciate the Danner name and reputation!
Are these waterproof?
They should be highly water resistant, they have a Gore-tex liner which should improve breatheability while giving you a firm barrier against moisture. Though the definition of waterproof is highly subjective, if you find they leak under heavy moisture conditions (I mean walking through deep puddles and the like), there are remedies for that.
