More than fifty years after Danner made its first motorcycle boot, the brand has reincarnated that heritage with the Moto GTX Boot. Built tough with full-grain leather, this brute features vintage style with newer technology, including GORE-TEX waterproofing and Vibram Megagrip outsoles for premium weather protection and traction for the road. They’re Gore-Tex, so they’re waterproof. They’re Danner, so they’re constructed to take a beating. They have D3O padded ankles, so that in a crash your ankles don’t take a beating. Vibram soles make them roll-step or flat step equally well and aren’t loud or thunky. They’re good, solid boots. Problems: The sizing is not standard American sizing. Danner’s own website says that their sizing matches the results from the Brannock Device; that’s the weird slidey thing shoe stores use to measure your feet, and then they bring you a size down from the result so that your shoes actually fit. Danner boots actually fit the measured sizing. If you wear a 9.5 normally, you might need a 10 or 10.5, etc. Obviously everyone’s feet are different, so go measure yours at a shoe store before ordering these boots, because they are stiff and unlikely to break in like regular boots due to the motorcycle safety construction.
