Solving this either-or dilemma once and for all, the Crank Brothers Doubleshot 3 Pedal offers the best of both worlds, so you can rip technical terrain one day with flats, then crank along smooth singletrack with clip-ins the very next.

    These ingenious pedals feature a hybrid design that's heavily influenced from the enduro-favorite Mallet E. You'll reap the traction benefits of eight adjustable pins on the flat side, with diamond-plated pads for texturized grip along both sides. The clip-in side features the same mechanism you've come to love from Crank Brothers, namely due to its mud-shedding ability, ease of entry, and speedy release that saves you from falling over.

    Durable cast steel wings and the A380 aluminum body withstand repeated beatings on the trail, even after harsh strikes when you're rumbling across rock gardens. Its sufficiently wide platform gives you ample room to find the pedals after dismounting while enhancing stability during high-speed descents and sketchy situations. To ensure the pedals spin smoothly over time, premium bearings are double-sealed to keep out muck and trail grit.

    Great pedal

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

    I got these pedals to use on my fat bike. I wanted something that could be used with big boots for warmth or my mtb shoes on warmer days. These pedals are perfect for that. They may not be the lightest pedal but they are burley and easy to get in and out of. I definitely recommend this pedal for the mixed use rider.

    These pedals are great. It took a little time to get used to both sides, but I like the versatility. I like how the Crank Bros function. The dual sided Shimano peddle is heavy. I am sold on Crank Bros!

    This is a great pedal that i love to use to go back and forth between cleats and flats. If you are making the switch from flats to the clips this is a great transition pedal.

    Got these because I wasn't sure if I wanted flat or clipless. So why not have both? I can say that I'm not feeling confident enough to ride my mtn bike clipless, but I see plenty of people who do on the trail. The flat side, however, has tons of grip. It can get be tricky sometimes to find the side you want to use, but it just takes some getting used to.

      Love the versatility of these peddles. It’s really nice to be able to ride both clip-less and flats on the same ride. At first it’s hard getting used to but seems like it will just take some getting used to.

      Unanswered Question

      Can you use both sides with cleats on? In short, is it possible to switch from clipped in to flats in the middle of your ride or do the cleats prevent the shoe from gripping because of the spindle against the cleat?
