    Really nice

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Nice jacket! I bought a medium to allow some extra room for layering. I like the coloring of the Raspberry a lot. The pockets are useful as well.

    Kept me warm!

    • Height: 5'6"
    • Weight: 135lbs

This jacket was great. Temps down to 5F at the summit and the wind was kept out and my body kept warm (with long underwear, longsleeve and zip up underneath). Great value for the price!

    Solid buy with interesting sizing

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small

    Size: 2-4 top, 6-8 bottoms
Used in: 6F to 40F, walking with some pretty fierce wind and snowmobiling.

Findings: This kept out the snow, wind, and cold wonderfully, but I would have liked more pockets. Also, I'm not sure it would do well if it had been much colder, or if there had been more wind on the chillier days. On the plus side, I didn't overheat when I wore it near the 40s (with human-bowling wind).

Fit: I bought a small in Iris and a medium in Black to test the colors and the size, since I'm heavy-bottomed and others said it ran small. I honestly found the fit comparable--both were comfy, with enough room to wear underarmour and a thick sweater underneath, with some room to spare.

The main difference seemed to be in the circumference of neckpiece. If you don't like a snug neckpiece or have a thicker neck, small is not for you. Also, the optional hand warmer thingies were very warm, but felt a little short compared to the jacket's sleeve. When I wore it, it felt it felt like it was trying to pull my hand back in, even though the sleeves are almost too long for me.

Style: My clothing needs to be functional and look good, and this did both. It wasn't too sporty or bulky, so I felt like I could still rock the streets AND be comfortable. That said, I ended up keeping the black instead of the Iris, which was a little...middle-aged looking.

    Warm and comfortable!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Extra Small
    • Height: 5'1"
    • Weight: 115lbs

Love this jacket - It's versatile, keeps me super warm and love all the pockets!

    Good fit, nice and warm

I live in Wisconsin and today I wore this coat in -39 degree wind chill cleaning 3 or 4 inches of snow of my car, and I was toasty! I usually wear my fleece underneath for extra warmth and it fits well with layers, I bought a small and I'm 5'1 115lbs. I would recommend. Ive also been complimented on the foam green color of the coat by a classmate; it's an unusual color but pretty without being an overbearing color.

    Soft and Snuggly

I love my down jacket and my Carhartt, but when temps plummet and the northern Idaho weather vacillates from rain to blizzard, to frozen wasteland, I'm glad I have a proper Columbia again.

    Comfort: A+
The collar, inside of the hood, and the inside of the hand pockets are SO soft, bunny-soft without all that pesky shedding of fur.
The length is right. This is a jacket, not a parka so I'm not sitting on the coat when I drive. However, my ass isn't hanging out in the cold, cold wind either. Columbia strikes a happy medium here when a lot of other jackets miss the mark.
This is the first time I've had a powder skirt in a jacket without constantly being aware of its presence. Well played Columbia, well played.

    Pockets: A+
    2 zippered hand pockets
1 outside chest pocket (taped zipper) large enough for iphone SE
1 inside zippered chest pocket, also large enough for phone w/ headphone buttonhole
1 inside drop-in pocket - this one is mesh & has an elastic top, I might not trust my keys in here, it seems suited for a hat or gloves
    1 left wrist pocket

The Alpine has 2 slash pockets with ultra-soft lining that does a good job keeping my hands warm even when I forget my gloves. Also, the zippers on the pockets don't bother my wrists when I'm slouching about with my hands in my pockets - excellent.

    Zipper: A+
Primary zip is plastic with large teeth so it's quiet, snag-free, & easy to operate.

    Thumbhole Thingies: A++
    So. Comfortable.
Thin, double layer of stretchy, synthetic material wards off the chill & fits perfectly - even under gloves!
The thumbholes are engineered properly - they don't inhibit taking off or putting on the jacket. I could write poetry here but I'll spare you - that's how good these thumbholes are.

    Fit: A+
The fit is quite attractive, the Alpine nips in at the waist and achieves a feminine look that isn't always present in outerwear.

    Sizing: B
The Alpine might run a little small. I'm quite short at 5' and the sleeve length is good for me even in Medium.
I wear a small in Basin and Range and Under Armour but I chose a Medium Alpine to accommodate layers. I've worn a hoodie with a down vest under the Alpine and did not find it too snug.

I can't believe I went years without a proper ski jacket, it's so nice to be snugged up in coat that truly suits all winter weather conditions.

    Too snug

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'0"
    • Weight: 128lbs

I'm 5 feet & weight 128. I normally wear a size small with room to wear a sweater. But I read reviews that this ran smaller, so I ordered a medium. Fits a bit snug, especially around the wait. Granted, I have a small muffin top...:) But I really like it. I live in Alaska & today's temp is 21 degrees. Felt the cold on my arms as I was driving my ATV, & it's not that windy. Maybe blowing 18 knots. But still. Don't think it'll be warm enough for the minus 20 temps we get this winter..Also, the neck feels bulky, if I don't zip it up all the way. But when I do, it feels tight.

    Love it

This jacket is wonderful. Wow, it's warm. I snowshoe in Yosemite National Park, Sequoia/Kings Canyon, and in the Sierra National Forest in the 30's snowstorm or not. The option to pull the inner sleeve down and around your thumb/hand is nice. The pockets are perfect. The one thing I wished I had researched was arm vents which it does not have. This is minor to me as I just vent the main zipper instead. I'm very pleased with this purchase. I may have 2 long sleeve base layers and a tank top underneath @ times or 1 long sleeve base with a tank top(recent snowstorm/was perfect). I think a medium would be needed if you have these layers and a sweater. I don't want that bulk and prefer to use thin base layers for comfort. I am athletically toned/34D.

    Love this coat!!!!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large

Fits great, true to size. love the color. Pockets pockets pockets. A++ Warm, slimming (no balk) hood removable- it's perfect!

    A+ Jacket

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: M
    • Height: 5'8"

I gave this as a gift to my sister, and she wears it every day. It's warm and very slimming. She's tall making the cut a bit short... and snug. But she loves it!

    Great jacket!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I was looking for something that would keep me warm, but also had a removable hood and this jacket is perfect so far. It has been plenty warm with only a light layer on underneath and has kept me completely dry in the rain. The fit is about what you would expect with enough room to have some layers on underneath for the colder part of winter.

    Pros:
True to size and not too bulky
    20K waterproof
    Removable hood
    Plenty of pockets
Cuffs with thumb holes keep the sleeves from riding up

    Cons:
    No arm pit vents
    Powder skirt cannot be removed
