The Lowdown is a slimmed down Chaco that can still hold its own on the trail. The midsole might be thinner, but it still gives better rebound and less compression for a trail-ready performance. Chaco updated the straps with anti-odor technology for odor control, and it has similar adjustments to the original Chaco for a snug fit. ChacoGrip gives the same technical traction and stable platform you'd expect from Chaco.

Snagged
While these are comfortable and stylish, the strap kept getting snagged on the adjusting clip, so that became a problem for regular use. That's never happened on another pair before, so maybe it was an isolated incident, but frustrating nonetheless.

Let-down
The rubber near the toes has already begun to deteriorate. Getting the straps to fit right is very hard. It is either too loose or so tight it hurts. The sole is not as thick as I'd like. The shoe is attractive but the design is much too casual for my use. I had bought Chacos for my experience in the Peace Corps. I was very satisfied with that pair and was excited for this new pair. Unfortunately, they were a let-down. I wish I had tried these on in person before committing.

Too loose, can’t tighten straps very much
These sandals don’t tighten well, end up being very loose on the foot. Wouldn’t recommend.

Low quality materials—returned.
I wanted these to be great. The other pair of Chacos I've had for years has been great. I loved the idea of a lower profile lightweight version. These are not it. There have been obvious compromises in material quality. The webbing is so thin—it won't hold the tension of an adjustment. I found myself having to stop and tighten the straps every 20 steps or so. It also makes me wonder how long they would even last, seeing some of the other reviews of straps fraying and breaking after not much use. I returned these after a few sessions trying to make them work, but sadly, they're just not well made.

Not good quality
My sandal broke. One of the straps is frayed, due to the buckle came defective. How can I fix my sandal?

Comfortable
Very comfortable, just like your traditional chacos, but with a little different style for when you want to change it up a bit. Feel much lighter too!

Nice, but one design flaw.
I bought these during the summer sale. I had purchased a pair of custom Z hikers earlier in the year and loved how comfortable they were that I thought it would be nice to have a pair of these for every day wear and keep the hikers for, well, hiking. Unfortunately, while these sandals are comfortable, I find the buckle teeth with the lighter weight straps of these sandals to be a bad combination. I am continually having to fight to get these unbluckled as some piece of the strap always seems to get caught on the teeth. I have figured out that it's essential to lift the buckle away from the strap while pulling the strap away from the buckle in order to have any degree of success, but this seems overly complicated. I won't be buying this model again unless there is improvement on the buckle/strap engagement.

Great Sandal, But Long Straps.
Great sandal. Very comfortable and love the color. I don't know why the strap is so long, it drags the ground and i know it will soon be frayed. That is the only negative thing. I have noticed other people wearing them and theirs is the same.

Not what I was hoping for.
I really wanted to love these sandals. I was looking for ones to replace my old, heavy, rigid Chacos from 15 years ago. I still love the look of these, and when they arrived I loved that they were super lightweight and comfortable. But like other reviews have said, I’ve struggled to keep them tight and adjusted to my foot. The buckle/strap doesn’t hold and after walking for 5 or 10 minutes they loosen and my foot slides back on the footbed and they rub my feet. I keep having to stop, slide my foot forward, adjust the straps, and tighten them. They’re not for walking or hiking like I wanted them for. They will be ok for light sandals to wear around the house or camping, or as water shoes to walk in the river. But not for walking any distance at all.
