A coil leash is great for placid or crowded water since the coiled polyurethane keeps it tangle-free, while a straight ankle leash works well in moving water to prevent board drift. Aim for a length that matches your board—most paddlers use 8–12 feet—and models like the REI Co-op 10-foot coil give a versatile middle ground.

A vest-style PFD offers more freedom for paddling while low-profile belt designs pack down smaller for touring; both are sized by chest measurements from XS to XXL (about 28–56 inches). Also check US Coast Guard buoyancy ratings—PFDs typically provide 16–22 pounds of flotation—and consider a Type III low-profile option like the Aqua-Bound model for calmwater use.

For phones and wallets, a 5–20 liter dry bag with welded PVC or TPU construction and a roll-top seal will keep items dry and secure during any activity. Brands such as GILI Sports add triple-lock seals and waist or shoulder straps that make carrying small valuables comfortable on long tours.

Look for a pump that reaches the SUP’s recommended pressure quickly—many electric pumps hit 12–15 PSI in 5–10 minutes, which is fast enough for most inflatable boards. A reliable pump makes setup straightforward and spares your arms if you plan multiple inflations or frequent trips.

Pick a rust-resistant folding anchor that holds reliably in shallow spots; aluminum folding anchors weighing about 3–5 pounds are common and work well for stationary activities. Models like the Malo'o folding anchor (around 4 pounds) pair with a 15–30 foot rode and typically hold in 10–20 feet of depth for steady positioning during yoga or fishing.
