Kids Green' Sleeping Bags

Think about the temperature you'll be in and how much wiggle room your child needs; modified mummy bags are a good middle ground for milder nights around 25°F to 30°F, while full mummy styles squeeze out extra warmth for cold weather down to about 20°F. Rectangular or semi-rectangular designs work best for car camping and sleepovers when comfort and room to move matter more than weight.

For true cold-weather camping look for ratings near 20°F or lower to keep a still-sleeping child warm overnight. If you want a practical, wet-friendly option a down bag with 650‑fill duck down or a midweight synthetic like the REI Co-op Kindercone 25 (tested to 25°F) can provide a good balance of warmth and packability.

Measure your child from head to toe and choose a bag with length options that extend beyond their current height—many kids bags accommodate children up to 5'5". Models with internal drawcord systems, such as the Mountain Hardware Youth Bozeman, and example dimensions like 66 by 26 inches help you tighten fit as they grow and extend usable years.

Synthetic insulation performs better when damp and often uses recycled fibers for easy care and durability, so it's a smart pick for unpredictable weather and family use. Down—especially 650‑fill duck down—offers superior warmth-to-weight and compressibility for backpacking, though it’s best paired with a water-resistant nylon shell or treated down for wet conditions.

Wearable styles such as the Morrison Outdoors Big Mo are designed for toddlers learning to sleep in a bag, featuring arms and a central zipper that make movement and nighttime checks easier. They often use durable water-resistant nylon shells and insulating fills like 650‑fill duck down, giving a cozy, packable option that eases the move to traditional sleeping bags.
